| wondering what to feed my new Puppy. I am having to suffer the long 9 week wait for my puppy but i am getting all the information I can now before out little guy comes home. In his home now they are eating Purina Puppy Chow but I am not sure if this is the best for my baby. I was looking at Royal Canin or Eukanuba. I think so far I am more infavor of the Eukanuba but wanted to ask the pros. |

| Welcome to YT I wouldn't feed Purina, Euk or RC. They are all full of fillers and possibly chemicals. Purina products have unnamed animal products in their food. Eukanuba or Iams has done inhumane animal testing and Royal Canin has caused a lot of Yorkies to be very itchy (including mine). How about Wellness, Canidae, Natural Balance?

YT 2000 Club Member | As Ellie May said, I wouldn't feed any of my animals anything that Iams or Eukanuba makes, if you do searches on them, you'll find lots of horrible info on things they've done to animals as well as law suits. I feed Maggy May Wellness Just For Puppies (they are changing the name to Welless Super Five Mix) and she does wonderfully on it. Her coat is awesome, so shiney and pretty, she doesn't have itchiness and the kibble s all natural. They have awesome all natural treats as well. Good luck!

When you are feeding your children you want only the best for them. Same goes for your furbaby. I know how you feel about feeding and I went to a health food store for pets and that is where I learned about the different kinds of food that is out there. The girl at the store was incredibly informative and she was able to explain to me the difference between the so called good store bought foods to the food that they sell. I got the smallest can of Wellness puppy and gave Odie 1 tsp.. he gobbled it up and was licking his little lips. HE LOVED IT!! Needless to say he has been eating the same food since. How old is your baby?

| It is a shame your Yorkies breeder is not feeding a better food. Some people just don't know any better. I know you are excited about getting your new puppy and it is great that you are preparing for him. When you do get him ask the breeder to give you a little bit of the food she is feeding him. When you get him you might want to keep him on his old food for a week and then start switching him over. Often just going to a new home will trigger episodes of diarrhea so you don't want to do to much to upset him until he has time to adjust. Purina is mainly corn so when you switch to a high quality food you will need to do it slowly so your puppy can adjust. The reason I do not like Eukanuba is because it has corn also. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Can any of these be purchased at a petstore like Petsmart? On a side note, I've been feeding Royal Canine and Joey loves it and has been doing very well on it, but people do make me feel like I'm really harming him. He use to be really fussy and wouldn't eat other dog foods, now that he's older I've been thinking about trying something different because of all the coments I read. It is confusing.

Canidae is usually found at small pet stores. Natural Balance is sold at Petco, I think and Wellness may be sold there also.

| Hi there!!! When I got my little one they had been feeding her Puppy Chow She was very scrawny and had a canon butt! I immediately switched her to Solid Gold Wee Bits and mix it with a little Innova canned puppy food. She loves it and I haven't had any problems with her since
