Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | Natures Variety - Prairie or Instinct? First i was wondering if feeding either of these foods creates the small hard dry poops like the raw? when morgan was on the NV raw her poop was small and hard, and always dried up and disappeared. i would like to have this again, as i hate picking up poop in the yard. Also, which do you think is better? the instinct only have chicken, rabbit, and duck & turkey. morgan tried the rabbit and hated it. i'm a little hesitant to try the chicken because i hear it causes so many allergies. the prairie type has more variety in proteins and if it causes the same poop effects i would probably pick the venison to give her since that was her favorite raw. what do you guys think?

| I've never fed the kibble but I've fed the Instinct canned to my cats before. The canned has a lot of protein variety. I'm all for grain-free diets but I personally won't feed kibble

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | morgan was not reaping any of the benefits you hear about. her breath still stank and her tear stains were bad. she loved it tho, and i loved the lack of poop in the yard and that she was thrilled about eating. i decided to experiment and go back to a really good dry food to see if her breath or tear staining went away. she is on wellness and solid gold wee bits. loves those both too but the poops are killing me. honestly dry is more convenient then raw, but i will go back to raw if the dry varieties don't help the poops.

We have only been giving the NV raw for almost two weeks now and we can already "smell" a difference in Autumn's breath! It seems to be getting better and better each day!

| Good question, I'd be interested in knowing too. Zoe loved the raw for about two weeks and then decided no way. I would love to find something else she likes, I wish she would eat the raw. And the thing with raw is, you can't just leave it out thinking when she's hungry enough she'll eat. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I'm not sure if either of these create the small poos - if either did, it would be more likely that Instinct would bc it's grain free. I don't think the bad breath is related the food at all though, in this case. Has the vet given a thorough look at her teeth? Anything funky there? Are the conjuctiva of her eyes red (the lining if you pull the lid out)? Is the discharge greenish/smelly? Sometimes things going on in the mouth can irritate eyes too - as in, sometimes when puppies are teething, there eyes drain more; so it just makes me wonder. Another thing I'd suggest is trying PetzLife Gel - I think it's pretty good stuff.

| Lady has been eating the NV Prairie kibble and canned for almost two years now and has done really well on it. Their Prairie line is high protein, but not raw. Instinct is their raw line. A raw diet can be very beneficial, but it's not appropriate for every dog. Lady is a diabetic and because of her weakened immune system, her body can't handle the bacteria found in raw. It's always best to check with your vet before starting a raw diet. The most important thing to remember when feeding raw is to practice good sanitation just as you do when handling your own raw food - careful hand washing before and after handling it, thoroughly washing dishes, etc. |

i was just wondering how Lady's poops are? are they small and hard? do they turn white shortly after and decompose faster so you don't have to pick it up?

| I wish some one had an answer for you as I am wondering the same thing. Zoe has been refusing the raw. But it has so many advantages! including easy clean up! I think one of us is gonna have to try it.... I wonder if they give free samples....... |
