| What is a good shampoo/conditioner for my puppy? Hello everyone! I have been reading up on what are the best products to bathe a Yorkie with. My new puppy has some dry skin in some areas and I want to get a good shampoo conditioner to help his skin and coat. Many people who show their dogs use Vellus (or so I have gathered from researching this) which I would love to try but it just seems a bit expensive. I know that many people use baby shampoo/human shampoo and conditioner but I would rather not. Does anyone have any suggestions of DOG hair products that are similiar but not as pricey? Thanks so much! |

| I posted the same question about a week ago and alot of people on here recommended baby shampoo. I wanted to use vellus or minksheen shampoo but I heard its good to wait till they are around 5- 6 months before using that stuff. |

| I like the shampoo/conditioner/grooming spray made by Crazy Dog-they smell good and are reasonably priced. I think we got ours at Three Dog Bakery, though I think you can buy it at Petsmart or Petco too.

| I love the Buddy Wash from Cloud Star too - www.cloudstar.com -- a lot of people are carrying it now. But if you are concerned about dry skin you might want to go with an Oatmeal shampoo. I have used Tropiclean Oxy Oatmeal Shampoo & Oxy Med Treatment Rinse http://www.tropiclean.net/tropiclean_index.html - we have good results with this, but someone else recommended NuSalTshampoo and Relief Creme Rinse (which I know vetamerica sells & maybe Petsmart) I liked Minksheen, but I've had others say they found it to be too drying. So I would avoid it if you are concerned about dry skin. Definitely use a dog shampoo, not something for people. I think it's trial & error, and I have learned that what I use for one dog, is not necessarily best for another dog - so yep, I use 2 different shampoos - one has dry skin, the other doesn't

| I have trial sizes (and big sizes) of the Buddy Wash & Rinse on my website. Cloud Star discontinued the trial sizes (boo!) but I bought up all they had left. It's not that many, but enough for lots of you to try out Buddy Wash. You don't regret it! It smells so good! I even got my groomer to switch to it and her customers love it too! www.barkaholics.biz

| Yikes--baby shampoo is still very drying....I didn't like puppy shampoo either. I have 2 yorkies that have year-round allergies (lots of itching and reverse sneezing) and need more frequent baths because I take them for walks outside. I went through a lot of different shampoos before finding something appropriate. I find the 'Petsmart' Lines to be too strongly scented, and not to help with itching. I tried Biogroom, recommended by the groomer that used to visit my home. My vet finally recommended DermaPet's Malacetic Shampoo and Spray Conditioner--developed by a Dermatologist, and seriously gentle enough to use to bathe them daily if I wanted to. I love and use a lot of their products (ear cleaner, etc). It has a CLEAN, NATURAL, faint apple scent....And they don't smell like walking potpourri satchets...I use the spray-on conditioner if I ever feel like refreshing before their next bath. I liken it to getting a passing whiff of someone that didn't use a scent, but smelled 'clean', like a bar of Dove soap... |

| Paul Mitchell for Doggies! My little Adelaide gets bathed in Paul Mitchell Shampoo! Yes, its for our furrbabies and I love it! (John Paul Pets) Its not expensive either! A big bottle was only $10.00!! We use the oatmeal formual...there is also a spray conditioner for inbetween baths and de-tangling! It makes her hair soooo soft and we don't have itchy problems at all!!
