Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | Carprofen is another name for rimadyl. Its an anti inflammatory. Shouldn't cause diarrhea. Probably just a coincidence. But keep an eye on him. If it doesn't stop today or tomorrow you can not give him the rimadyl and see if it improves

| I'd discontinue the meds immediately, as bowel issues ARE in fact a side effect of this drug. http://www.thepetguardian.com/html/r...e_effects.html

| Oh yes, those are very fatty Maybe let his tummy rest for a day or so with a bland diet (plain chicken breast and white rice) and see how he is. Most importantly make sure he's staying hydrated, force water or Pedialyte with a syringe if he's not drinking enough. I hope he feels better soon, poor darling

| I almost forgot, if you're having a hard time keeping him still and calm, the pain meds might be working so well that he doesn't know that he's got a boo boo. Ask the vet about that, as he may hurt himself more if the pain meds are masking too much of the pain. But definitely discuss all of this with the vet

| Discontinue the med and call the vet. I would take him to the vet for a blood panel (looking at liver enzymes in particular). NSAIDs can be dangerous. There is a whole website dedicated to the deaths caused by this drug. I don't want to scare you but if it were Ellie, I would get bloodwork done just in case. I would also try Tramadol because Rimadyl because I like it better. http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Con...C=31&A=623&S=0

| Lily was on this med once and had the same issue, she also has this problem when on rimadyl .so I just called the vet and they gave me something different if you do not like how your pup is reacting to a med call your vet and they will probably be more than happy to give you something else. | Good Grief, Why would the University Vet School give him something that has such a history????? The script is for 25 mg- and he gets 1/2 in Am- 1/2 tab. in PM! I did not give it to him yesterday Am, but did last night! He has only had 5 doses- and no refills on script! But I will call them!Oh, there were 14 in script- so it is a 2 wk supply! They were not putting him on it forever! Does this make a difference?????
