| Is Alph too skinny? I picked up Alphy last week from the groomers and he just feels so boney. He doesn't look it but he feels it. He's 9lbs. He has a waist. If you feel down his ribs at the end he has these points, one on each side, that kinda creep me out to feel it. And to pet his back i can feel his spine, although again you can't see it. I think with the loss of Abby his appetite has been hit and miss. Last week he seemed to be scarfing up the food and now not so much. I started giving him a scrambled egg occassionally in the morning and some cottage cheese in the evenings. Tons of treats lately too, yorkie yummies, yogurt drops, and honey nut cheerios. any idea to put a little chunk on him?

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Sounds like he may need to pile on some weight (you have a good *feel* for it, which is good). What are you feeding? What about some peanut butter (small amounts), maybe some fish oil w/ meals, a bit of cheese. You're already doing well w the cottage cheese, yogurt, cheerios, eggs. Do you think his thyroid needs to be checked or anything else by the vet? He sure is cute in your avatar!

| Sometimes I put PB in his Kong and I have missing link for his food. I can't remember the name of his food but it's from Costco, lamb & rice mix. I'm switching to Solid Gold I think when we are low enough to mix it in to transition. He's always been tiny feeling but I don't think it's a thyroid issue or anything like that. I think he just mourns Abby from time to time and doesn't eat. He does get cheese too sometimes if I'm using it to make something. Spoiled little thing he is. Thanks for your response. I'm keeping an eye on him and probably will go for the check up soon anyway.

What about mixing in some premium canned? He'd probably go bonkers - so it'd be *exciting* (mood lifting) but also super nutritious.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | THAT is a SUPER idea...you could check "senior" formulas too for extra fat content.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hee hee! When Marcel was "over-served" a bit when we first started raw, my hubby started calling him TUBBY. Poor little guy. He was like a little coffee table (well, not really, but kinda).

| I second the canned food idea. If you don't wnat to do that I highly recommend steel cut oats. They are sooo high in calories and have worked well for Ellie. She has those points too.

| Thanks guys!!! I think he's physically okay, just feels little boney. I don't mind him being a little fatted up though. Just means extra padding for protection I think I may try some soft food in addition to what we've been doing.
