| Usually about a year. Sometimes 9 months is acceptable. There is no one best kibble but Wellness and Canidae and Natural Balance are okay.

| My vet says one year. However, I have had Holly on an all life stages food since I got her. The vet said that is fine as long as she is gaining weight, which she is. I feed dry Timberwolfe Wild and Natural (ultra tiny kibble), Ziwi Peak for a treat and canned Evanger. Both girls love all of this food.

| Do you HAVE to STOP puppy food? My 6-year-old 7 pound guy gets Iams Toy and Small food kibble. (He's a thin, long, and leggy foxy-faced Yorkie, very unlike your tiny balls of fur.) But he loves a teaspoon of canned puppy food whenever he can get it. I usually open a can and divide it into thirds, freezing two thirds of it. He whimpers at the refrigerator until he gets his puppy food treat each day! Will it hurt him? |

The only difference is more fat and protein and maybe calcium. If he starts gaining weight it would have to be cut out. I don't recommend Iams though. The ingredients aren't that great and they have been caught being very cruel to animals. Can we see pics of your furkid?
