| How much water is normal 6mo What is the normal amount of water for a 6 month Fur Baby ? Chooie gets 1 cup of water with his 1/4 cup of wet food twice a day. I also have a water bottle attached to his crate (outside) with aprox 1 cup. He finished all of the water when he eats and constantly goes to the bottle. The water bottle was suggested by the trainer b/c he drinks so fast that he brings it up .....and it has helped a lot. SO I guess my question is how much is too much ? |

| I don't know, but I wouldn't restrict water intake. My dogs have access to water at all times. Many people use the water bottle with success, but I would refill it if it were empty. What food are you feeding?

| I feed him i/d perscription diet by Hills Science. He is on this cause he has a sensitive stomach and he had issues when he was a wee little thing. I just hate having the water out because he will go to the door like 10 times in one hour and he is starting to mark his territory...if you know what I mean |

| We have an automatic watering fountain that they can drink freely from. I would rather have them marking/pottying inside than being dehydrated, but I tend to be a bit odd that way.

| One once per pound of body weight daily is about right. If you are feeding wet then they should drink lots less.

| I agree with 4gracealone. We leave a bowl of water upstairs and downstairs all the time. I usually refill them 3 or 4 times a day because someone always manages to leave battleships after he eats (our little boy is a sloppy eater!) but I would definately put more water out if he is finishing his bottle. If you see that he is drinking excessively have his blood work done. I had a poodle who started to drink and peepee alot and it turned out to be diabetes. I doubt this is your situation but just wanted to share my experience. |

| Sounds like an awful lot of water. Slade is a yr old and just now getting to where he emptys his bowl that holds a cup, once a day. So Slade probably drinks maybe a cup and half a day and he is free fed and has access to his water all day long as well.
