| No, I don't think it's bad for them but it probably isn't "the best". I had my Mia on it up until this last week and I only changed it because my Max was getting a little gassy and Mia seemed to be getting a little dry. I don't know that RC was/is the cause - I just decided to try something new to see of it would make a difference.

| It depends who you ask. There is corn and menadione in it, but it is definately not the worst food available. My major issue is the itchies it has caused so many Yorkies. Ever since that food, Ellie scratches and scratches and scratches. She even scratches her ear open and it isn't uncommon for it to bleed. She has gotten into other dog food with corn in it since then and I think she is allergic to beef too but the severe scratching started after feeding it. The only way I would recommend it is if you need to use a veterinary diet. You could always take the chance of feeding it and maybe your dogs will do well, but if they don't be prepared for the itchies and possibly steroid injections.

| I was asking this same question just the other week! I'm feeding RC mini junior...Pixie seems to be fine on it so far...I sometimes mix a bit of canned meat with it for variety...i also feed her James Wellbeloved kibble as a treat...and she loves that too.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | if that's all they'll eat then that's all they'll eat. its not the best but its not the worst. at least its not a brand that you can buy at the supermarket. those are the worst.

| So true it could be worse Max won't eat anything but RC and Sam will eat only Eukanuba or RC and Bella will only eat RC so it looks like the winner is RC

| Henry eats Royal Canin puppy 33, and he loves it! Not sure if I should change since he was only a bit itchy once or twice a few days ago, and he seems fine now, his skin looks fine, and he doesn't scratch hard.

| Sounds like to me he is doing good on it If he was itchy only once or twice a few days ago that could have been from anything.

| Yea, he's doing great on it, and I'd hate to change his food on him when he's doing so good on it, but I'll keep my eye out on bad itchies

| My vet put Stella on Royal Canin IVD which is a limited ingredient food due to her allergies, but it can only be purchased at the vet I think. She doesn't scratch as much since she's been on it. |

| My vet put Kass on it back in October because of her having food allergies. She has done great with it but I am in the process of trying to find a replacement just because of the bad reviews it gets here. Kass doesnt like it either but eats it after she gets hungry enough.

| My little boy came from the breeder eating RC for yorkies and he loved it, then I slowly switched him to Canidae All Life stages Lamb since it was highly recommended on this board. Well he was never crazy about it, the kibble are a little big for him, and after 2 months on it he is not eating anymore and I am going to switch to Evangers canned food Lamb and Rice since he has had a colitis problem recently. I think you probably have to go with what works with your puppy since sometimes even the best food may not agree with them! |
