Coby won't eat out of his bowl!!! Hi everyone! I'm new to Yorkietalk.com and am loving all the great information on here from all you guys out there! I have had Coby now for about 2 weeks now and he is doing great with the housetraining and everything else but he won't eat out of his bowl! He eats fine 3x a day but will only eat his food off the floor! Is this normal? It's like he is scared of the bowl or something. Funny thing is, is that he drinks his H20 out of the same bowl right next to it! Help!

First off, Welcome to YT! I have to laugh because our little Odie is the same way. He's going to be nine this year and has been picky for most of these years. He has to have the crock bowls he had as a puppy. Nothing else. Out shopping one day I came across the cast iron dog with the two stainless steel bowls, well I thought how cute. Odie would not have anything to do with it to this day which turned out OK because he is alittle chubby and our rescue needs free feeding. They do have their quirks. Maybe try a small plate and see how that goes.

Hey, just don't make my mistake. When I got Rickles (he was 3 1/2) and he wouldn't eat. I bought some canned food and he still wouldn't eat it so I picked some of it up and he ate it from my hand, that was 4 1/2 years ago and guess what - I still feed him his canned food by hand. He will eat his dry food fine but when the canned food comes out in the evening I have to feed it to him by hand. People laugh at me but I say that's our bonding time. lol Joyce Ann

Parker picks up his food and moves it to carpet. So every since he was a baby he never eats out of his bowl. I even tried putting the bowl on the carpet and still takes it out of the bowl and eats it off of the ground...I think its a yorkie thing BTW welcome to YT!!! I love it here!!

Mine are not crazy about eating out of bowls so I use plates. My Yorkies eat on hard heavy Dallas Ware plates (found at a garage sale) and Corelle plates.

Sadie will eat out of her bowl sometimes now but normally she paws the food into the floor and then eats it...It just depends on her mood i guess. Oh, and Welcome
