Animal Smiley 036 Breeding Question...

Hello everyone,

i have a question..

ok so baby boy gus is AKC registered and my baby girl Remi is AKC registered also BUT its say on her papers that is is "LIMITED". im assuming, i cant breed her and get AKC papers because it is limited. So... my question is.. what kind of papers can i get for the puppies that they will have?

AND...

Remy is 2 pounsd 8 ounces (according to the banfield scale, as of last wednesday) and she is 17 weeks now. (FYI: she has only gained 1 ounce since the 5 weeks ive had her). As an adult, will she be big enough to breed? (if not, i will not even think about it and get her fixed)

Thanks everyone for you help.

It is hard to say if she will be big enough but I think the rule of thumb is to double the weight at 12 weeks (someone correct me if I"m wrong).
It would be best if she was at least five pounds.

Limited registration does mean you can't get AKC papers. I wouldn't get any papers for them because the breeder of your female evidently didn't want her bred if she limited it.

THEY AREN'T! That's why it says limited...she paid for a pet, therefore, you may want to get ahold of your breeder..I would never get a puppy that was limited and then not have them spayed..and also sounds like that female would be too small to breed anyway

thats what i was thinking. she never told me that her papers were limited, and when i asked her what that meant, she never called or text me back. I cant get any papers on them period?

That's why I think limited reg. doesn't work, you need to have a spay/neuter contract as well. There are a ton of yorkies for sale with no papers....hmmmm wonder why?

well the breeder never told me she was limited, thats why i got her. NEVER said a word to me until i took a closer look at her papers when i got home. and when i asked her about it, she never replied back to me.

You could try to get CKC papers but that would be breeding without your breeders consent (when she maybe didn't want you to). I would keep your pup as a pet.

If you were upfront and told her you were looking for a breeder, if he/she was to sell her to you, she would've left it full with no problem I'm sure.

There's a reason why she didn't want her bred. That fact should be respected.

Limited Registration means that the dog is registered but no litters produced by that dog are eligible for registration.

It's always a good idea to ask when you buy a puppy, especially if you want to breed. It does sound like she will be on the smaller side, that's probably why she was sold with limited.

okay, is the little box next to where it says limited blacked out? All the applications SAY limited but unless the box is blackened out, she is not limited. Look at your paper.

the funny thing is i DID tell her i was going to breed her one time, so we have a puppy that was from my baby boy gus and remi.

You really need to try and speek with the breeder. Reputable breeders only place their pets with a spay/neuter contract and limited registration. When a breeder gives limited registration that means the puppy they sold you is not to be bred. If this is the case, I really hope you'll respect your breeder's wishes and have her spayed. The reason breeders sell their pets with limited registration is because pet quality dogs should not be bred...only those that are a great representation should be bred.
