| Mine liked Innova Evo, Orijen and Canidae. They didn't like regular Innova. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Mix a little canned in if you have to. It might be hard switching to anything simply because Ol Roy is one that they spray sugar and stuff on so the dogs like it since it's about as healthy as sawdust. Good luck! That place might have samples so you could try it out too. Don't forget to switch SLOWLY. Do it gradually over a week or so. Any faster could upset tummies. A little diarrhea isn't unheard of so buy some 100% canned pumpkin and some rice just in case.

| Yeah the pumpkin is messy and stinky but they eat it. I freeze it in those tiny silicone ice cube trays that way I can just use a little bit at a time.

Though I feed raw, my vet highly suggested canned Merricks. | |

If you can avoid buying from a store that sells animals that would be best!! Pet stores sell puppy mill dogs Also, if you go to dogfoodanalysis.com and look for something besides the 2 foods you mention-- look at the 4 & 5 star foods - the 6 star foods are really high in protein & might be to much for your yorkie. One more thing - your dog will probably need less food than what it took of Old Roy. Follow the feeding guidelines on the package or the company's website. This high quality food will be more filling -- although at first your baby might feel deprived. So even though this other food looks more expensive you will feed less & most likely save money on vet bills & have your furbaby around for more years to love

| I really wanted to start my baby on Orijen puppy...it is a 6 star food but supposedly has too much protein for puppies. Why is having too much protein a bad thing?? just curious? (Jacoby is 5 months old and I want to get him on a grain free food.) |

| according to my vet, high protein is only Bad when the puppy has liver problems already. as long as the pup is healthy, it is best to sitck with high protein food. both of my girls don't have any problems eating high protein food.

| My last yorkie LOVED Chicken Soup for the dog lover soul. My newest won't touch it. She doesn't like Science diet natural either. I was told to try Royal Canine. Is this any good?? Does it come canned? My Sydney seems to only want canned food and where I live I have to drive at least an hour to get to any type of pet store. Have tried sooo many lately, I'd like to know what ya'll think before I drive so far for another food she might not touch. |

| THank you everyone for your Recommendations I went to this really neat little shop called the "the stock shop" here in az yesterday and got them their new food. I was going to get canidae, but the clerk suggested Chicken Soup since they are very picky eaters and she said it has good "palitability" and I got some wet food by Merrick. So I started slowly mixing it in yesterday and today and its so funny, because they both eat only the Chicken Soup pieces and leave the ol roy crap behind!! I am so glad I got them on something healthy and yummy that they both like, and the little bit of Merrick Chicken Pot Pie was a big hit! ha ha THanks again everyone! |
