| Dog Recipe in Rachel Ray's Mag Would you try the following recipe for your furkiddo.. She said it even taste great for humans too... What's Up, Dog? Let your pup start the day with a healthful breakfast. Cheesy Zucchini Frittata 2 Servings (This makes a nice breakfast, lunch or dinner for people, too) 1 Baking potato, peeled and thinly sliced 2 Tablespoons milk 3 Eggs, beaten 2 Tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil (EVOO) 1 Small zucchini, chopped 1/2 Cup Shredded asiago cheese (or use your pups favorite cheese) ____________________________________________ 1. Preheat the oven to 375. Place the potato in a small bowl with enough water to cover and microwave at high power until tender, about 8 minutes. Drain, add the milk and mash with a fork; let cool. Mix in the eggs. 2. In a medium, ovenproof skillet, heat the EVOO, 2 turns of the pan, over medium heat. Add the zucchini and cook until tender, about 5 minutes. Add the potato mixture and stir to combine. Bake until set, about 10 minutes. Sprinkle the cheese on top and bake until melted, about 2 minutes more. Let cool, then cut into wedges. |

| Why am I not surprised that there is EVOO in this recipe? It might be okay but it would be way more than two meals for a Yorkie. Two tablespoons of olive oil is way too much and I would never give that much in a day. Cheese doesn't agree with Ellie either, so I wouldn't make it. It is probably fine for a snack though....

I was thinking the same thing. Between the oil and the cheese, it is too much fat all together for any dog, I think. | |

| Yeah, I just don't think this is the best recipe. High fat makes me very nervous right now. I never thought Ellie had problems with high fat and pancreatitis but after her ultrasound today, apparently she does... So high fat makes me uneasy now.

| Now I thought most here fed their babies eggs? It was just a recipe in her magazine for dogs. It didn't specifically call out to any breed or size. I just thought with a lot of home food makers here that it may be something to try. You could always cut it back in halfs or quarters it is for at least 2 servings and that is a lot for a yorkie especially being a human size serving. No worries though just was sharing something. |

| I would only give Punkin a small bite of that once. It definitely is high in fat and would cause many dogs an upset belly at the very least. I also don't think there is enough variety of veggie to serve as a meal and I don't feed white potato either. I wonder if the recipe comes with a warning message that if you normally do not cook for your dog that you need to introduce it slowly to minimize risk for an upset tummy. |

| We have been feeding egg everyday around here lately. I give olive oil too, but 1 tsp a day, so the amount just needs to be cut down. I would probably use non fat milk. Cheese might be okay but I would use the lowest fat possible or find another binder.

| WHERE'S DA BEEF????? No, I agree, I would not make this for my guys either. I like useing sweet potatoes when mixing up a different meal. Like sweet potatoes mixed with either sardines or fresh or pouch salmon, then dice up steamed green beans or broccoli. I try and keep things as simple as possible. |
