| Hair Loss Hi Y'all, Roufianna has been neutered. As much as I believe the world would be a better place with 3 or 6 of her pups in it alas... Her knees are not the best and the bride and I will do nothing to worsen the bloodline. As for the hair loss. It began several months ago when about the time she had her first heat. The hair on her right leg at the thigh became very thin. It gradually looked as if it had all broken off near the skin. She does not bite it or scratch too much (for a dog). It then began to look like her left leg was thinning in the same area then a spot on top of her head and a ring around the top of her nose. The vet dos not know what may be causing it and we have begun giving her ultra omega and changed her diet from RC Yorkie mix to Wellness chicken flavor. We are using puppy size in the Wellness as the adult looked too large for her (is this fact of our imagination?). In any event the hair on her Right leg is looking like its growing in a bit now for the last week n e way. Any advise greatly appreciated Roufianna's Dad |

| Have they checked for demodex mites? My understanding is that all dogs have them but they typically live in the hair shaft but when a dog has an immune problem, they proliferate and typically you see hair loss. There is even one form that affect the legs or feet or both. It might be worth researching..... |

| Thanks for that. Our vet said he sees no indications of mites or a rash of any kind. Just another mystery. |

| I would scrape for mites and blood panel for thyroid. Warmly, Deborah

| Royal Canin has caused problems for lots of dogs. That would be my first guess but I would check for mites and a hormonal imbalance (through bloodwork).
