| Getting a 2nd opinion on Tuesday... Hi there. This post is not only to ask for prayers. thoughts, and good wishes, but also to tell everyone how GREAT it is to have YT to find information. My Little girl Shelby is going to have a second opinion on Tuesday. She has a Luxating Patella, and although my vet says that he doesn't recommend surgery at this time, I am getting a second opinion. I just want to make sure that I am doing the right thing. Shelby is in NO Pain at all...... and she still is a crazy little nut that wants to play ALL THE TIME. Everything is an adventure for Shelby!!! Without YT, I don't think that I would be going for a 2nd opinion. I just know that it may affect her future (arthritic probs & etc....) and a 2nd opinion won't hurt at all. Anyone who can share their knowledge, or experiences would be much appreciated......... and also if there are any questions that I need to approach the vet with..... please share!!! Thanks everyone!!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Are you getting the second opinion from an orthopaedic vet/specialist? That would be my only suggestions. Good luck

| Just curious, did she have x-rays and if so, what grade are her LPs? How old is she? Gracie has a 2 in one leg and a 3 in the other. She is only symptomatic on the grade 3 leg, started showing symptoms when she was about a year old. She will have surgery on both legs this coming Thursday.

| Sending thoughts and prayers your way. Hope all goes well with Shelby's appointment. Please keep us posted. I think it is wise to get a second opinion from an orthopedic surgeon. I am going through the same thing right now with my little girl Roxie, she also has luxating patellas. I just meet with an orthopedic specialist this past week. The vet and the specialist had differing opinions as to the grade of Roxie's LP's. My vet had said that Roxie's left leg was a Grade 3 and her right was a Grade 1. But when the orthopedic examined Roxie he said that her left leg was a Grade 1-2 and her right leg was the leg that he was concerned about. My observations of Roxie match up with that of the Orthopedic. I have noticed that Roxie will lift up her right leg and have not noticed any symptoms with her left leg. I have another appointment with the Orthopedic in a month.

| Back....... and would love to hear about your experiences. I am so worried about my little Shelby. If she needs surgery it will be scary for both of us!!...... She is such a Mommy's girl when she feels bad. And LP surgery is a pretty big surgery from what I have been told by my vets. We are going to an animal hospital in Cincinnati. Has anyone had any experience with Luxating Patella surgeries in Cincy? If so, I would love to hear about them. You can post here or feel free to PM me. ALSO...... after this type of surgery, how long do they have to stay off their feet??? It would be almost impossible to keep "Miss Adventure" off her feet. (I believe that the LP was caused by her "Flying Squirrel" acts off the couch in the first place!!) She can be so hard-headed and goes full-speed ahead when she has something on her mind. I know that these questions will be answered at the Orthopedic Vet, but the more info that I have....... the more questions I can ask. I want the BEST for Shelby...... (surgery or not)....... Keep that info coming!!!!

Cincinnati experiences??? Anyone, any more info????? I am going on Wednesday, so the more I know the better. Can you tell me anything about the meds that are given after surgery? or what meds are NOT good ..... if a vet recommends something that isn't acceptable, I need to know. (so I can ask for something else)
