| Just been Neutered Bentley just got neutered today and just below where the stitches are is really red and bruised, is this normal, it looks like a huge blood blister the size of a golf ball, is that just the sac. He is nearly 7 months old. The poor little guy is here on my lap just shaking, but doing not too bad...he had a bunch of teeth removed and a tattoo so he has been kind of through it today, so we are having a nice cuddle, lol. |

| The blood blister the size of a golf ball is not normal. I would call the vet. Good luck to you.

| I feel for you and Bentley.....My lil one was just spayed last Friday, but luckily didn't have any baby teeth that needed pulled. She was a little bit swollen around the incision on Sat/Sunday and now today just has a little bit of a bruise above the incision....I don't know if there would be any difference between a female or male, but I would definately give your vet a call and let them know how it's looking to you.... Wishing Bentley a speedy recovery.... Puppy Hugs from Lil' Miss Izzie...

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | There could def. be swelling in the area where the testes were - that is normal. Even small hematomas can be normal. BUT, if it's golf ball size - I'd take him in just to be sure. They may likely *do* nothing, but it's better to confirm that all is okay. Wylie had TERRIBLE swelling - I'm talking almost a baseball size - and we ended up in the ER (also, he was cryptorchid) - it was indeed a huge hematoma. But, they didn't actually do anything with it bc the body will take care of it (that is, if the bleeding hasn't continued) but they did give him some big time pain meds - and that is what your guy might really, really need bc swelling is painful. Please update when you can!

| Hi, thank you for your replies. This morning it has gone down a little and does'nt look quite as red, when the vet opens I will give them a call to see what they say. He did eat his food this morning and put his tail up so maybe feeling a little better. I have pain medicine which I will give him some more this morning, just in case. I had a male poodle a long time ago and when he got neutered no problem he was running around that same night, and I don't remember it looking like this, mind you he was a bit younger when he got neutered and I don't think his testis had actually formed yet, so maybe that is the difference, I don't know I guess every dog is different. But thank you again for your replies, makes you feel better to know if other people have had the same experiences. |
