Donating YT 500 Club Member | Cutting nails My Cocker has light colored nails so clipping hers are so easy, because I can see her cuticle wick. But I'm terrified to cut Guinness' what is the trick with black nails? Thank you!

| Just cut the tips off. Cut back to where the nail is just starting to curve down. |

Thank you. How often should they be cut?

| I cut Ellie's nails. They have never bled. Just take the tips off. As soon as you see a dark dot in the middle of the powdery white color (after you make your first cut), stop. That is the quick. It is actually the cutest thing. When I do Ellie's I clip a couple times and decide to clip once more (further down). As soon as I start to squeeze the clippers she cries (she knows I'm about to hit her quick and won't let me). That is how I can tell. Of course next time I do them I will probably make her bleed now that I wrote this.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | They do have a way of letting us know, huh? My Maggie loves 'beauty shop', she will just lay down and let herself be pampered. But I just hate doing her nails. I've made her bleed before and it just scared me to death!

| I always file Tillys nails with an emery board. If you have a tiny torch you can see where the quick is in the nail but I still worry about hurting her... |

| I just can't do the nail! First Tucker is a wiggle worm and even if not, I just can't - I'm so afraid I'll mess up and hurt him. Thankfully my groomer is very near so I just run him by and she does it for $4. |
