Is Raw Bad for Teeth? I bought the starter pack of the NV Raw medallions. We were all gung-hoe to give it to Chloe and then we got scared and never did. One of the reasons I started to worry about the switch was not knowing whether this was going to make her teeth dirtier. Chloe's vet said she might have to go on prescription dog food to keep her teeth clean, and the prescription food is a hard kibble. Do you think their teeth become dirtier with the soft food than the dry, hard food? Another question.....the directions said to start with the Chicken medallions and I thawed them and never used them. Do you think it's okay to start her on another kind of meat?

I would start her on chicken or lamb. As far as the teeth, if she only eats the soft raw food, it will not benefit her teeth. She needs raw meaty bones to along with the raw meat. The bones keep the teeth clean. You can see a thread here titled "raw feeding, info needed." there is a lot of info there. Last edited by omega; 01-06-2008 at 03:16 PM.

Chloe is on NV RAW also. I also give her Merrick Flossies for dental reason..she loves it!! I also brush her teeth almost every night too. She has really nice breathe!! I don't mind "making out" with my little baby!!
