| We finally switched to raw today!!!! We finally did it! I switched Zoe to the raw diet. I got the NV medallions and gave her the first one this am. She Loved It!!! She has never eaten like that before. She practically inhaled her food and then looked at me for more! So far so good, no stomach problems. She ate dinner the same way. I'm amazed! Now I do have a few questions.... the NV site says I should give her 2 medallions a day so I gave her one in the am and one in the pm but does that seem like enough? She ate it so quick and still seemed hungry which is a new one for us. I'm thinking I might give her 1.5 in the am tomorrow and the same for the pm feeding. I want her to put on weight too since she's thin. Do you think that would be ok? And do you find they have to go poop less with the raw? I think she only went once today and usually she goes twice. I just want to make sure there's no problem there. I'm so excited though to finally have her eat her whole meal!!! |

| I've only been feeding raw for a little over a week. I normally give Stella 1 1/2 medallion am and pm. Yes, she poops less often, it's smaller and not as smelly. |

How much does she weigh? How old is she? If she needs to gain weight, it would be no problem to feed her more. Yes, they definitely poop less with raw and it's smaller, too. Just keep an eye on her and make sure she isn't constipated while switching. Welcome to the raw world!

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Yay! I feed Marcel 1 in am, 1 in pm - and he weighs 3 pounds. If he needed to gain though, I'd def. up it to 1.5 and 1.5. This will probably be good for her weight bc I think they can put on "healthy" weight much easier w/ this food bc it is so absorbable.

| That's great news, Theresa!!! We've been back and forth between NV medallions and Canidae for a while now because of issues (Kiwi being horribly sick when I first got her, going on vacation, etc, etc) but as soon as Kobi gets back from his trip to MN, he's going right back on NV because I know it's so good for him. Kiwi would probably do fine, but when I first got her and had her on it, she was SO SO terribly sick, and it was hard to watch, so she'll just be Ms. Canidae forever Anyway, congratulations on switching! Kobi is kinda picky too, but he SCARFS his NV too! They just LOVE it, huh? Glad Ms. Zoe is going to be getting nuthin but the best Oh, and I was feeding Kobi (6-7 lbs...not sure) like 3 one day (1 a.m., 2 p.m.) and then 4 the next day (2 a.m., 2 p.m.) which might be a bit too much, but if I noticed him start to get "fluffy" I would have just cut back, so I would say go ahead and giv eher 1.5 a.m. and p.m.! Good luck!!

| Zoe will be a year in Feb and she weighs 4lbs 13ounces but she is very thin. The NV calculator says 2 medallions a day but since I want her to put on weight I think I'll try 3 and see. She just absolutely loves her food now. I have to admit, I was a little skeptical but I am so glad all you raw feeders were right! I did cut the food up into little pieces so I don't think she'd choke or anything. She just eats so fast now. She used to leave the food sitting and when she felt like it she'd take a piece or two and bring it into our living room and eat it in her bed. She never ever would finish the whole dish either and she always prefered the older dogs food but Sasha is on a senior diet so not what I wanted her to eat. I'm looking forward to watching her fill out a little bit! Thanks for all the encouragement. I probably never would have done this without all of your positive experiences! |

Both of mine are 4 lbs each. Daily they get 1 raw medallion and I also keep out dry kibble (Natural Balance Small Bites). With my kids being in sports we do a lot of travel with our Yorkies. When staying in hotels we just bring the dry kibble and they seem not to mind.

| I just wanted to update everyone on how Zoe is doing. She loves the raw and now weighs 4lbs 15.8 ounces so I'm really excited about that! She's still a bit on the thin side so I would like to see her put on another 3 ounces or so but after one week I think the results are amazing! She did turn her nose up at it one day so I'm looking for something to add a little variety. She had absolutely no stomach upset at all so I am pleased with that! Thanks for all your encouragement! |
