| Spaying - Pre-Op Procedures? Ariel is getting spayed tomorrow, and I'm sooo nervous! We're dropping her off around 7:30 in the morning, and the vet says she'll probably be ready to be taken home around 4 pm. Please put her in your thoughts and prayers that she get through it just fine. Anyway, my boyfriend just called the vet and asked what time we should stop giving her food & water tonight. They said no food and water after midnight. When we got Belle spayed, I remember that the time her vet gave us was much sooner than midnight, so I decided to look it up online. One website says no food after 10 pm, and water throughout the night is OK But, another website says no food after 6pm and no water after midnight. Can someone please tell me which one right? |

| Different vets have different preferences. Ellie's does no water after midnight, no food after 9. It depends what they are comfortabel with and when the surgery will be done. I wouldn't want Ellie eating anything for about 12 hours before so the risk of vomiting is very low.

| I would follow your vet's recommendation on when she shouldn't have food/water. Sometimes when you drop them off at 7:30...the might not do the procedure until much later. Good luck tomorrow. We'll be thinking of you!
