| Neutering? Should I? i went to the vet a couple days ago for my little guy's hair loss problem [its just allergies] so i switched his food and i give him DERM-CAPS liquid in his food once a day [its like fish oil] but anyways... he told me i should neuter my dog. it's good to do it for his general health.. but I'm not too sure if i should. can you tell me all the benefits and risks to help me decide on weather i should consider it. thanks YT! have merry x-mas everyone!! <3

| You should definitely neuter him. Unless a dog is being shown and bred, it should be spayed or neutered - it's the responsible thing to do and the healthiest option for your dog. Neutering should keep him from marking and humping. He will also be a happier and healthier dog. You will eliminate his risk of testicular cancer and other health issues like an enlarged prostate. Intact males also have a higher risk of aggression. A male can also smell a female in heat up to a mile away and may do anything to get to her..they can be escape artists. He may escape out of your house/yard and get hit by a car trying to get to a female. He may also quit eating when a female is around. Also, the pet population is out of control right now - millions of dogs and cats are euthanized every year, and tons are abused, neglected and end up on the streets. If for some reason your boy got out and bred a female, you'd be contributing to the ever growing pet population. There are not enough homes for all the animals out there...even purebreds are euthanized in the shelters. Spaying and neutering ensures your dog will not contribute to that.
