Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Fish is wonderful for dogs - whitefish types or salmon. I've never fed shellfish. Just keep in mind that you'd want to give more volume of fish than you would of meat bc it is leaner.

| I'd give them a bite of tilapia if we made it for dinner, but I'm not sure I'd specially cook them a fish I see herring and whitefish in their kibble though so I'm sure it's good for them. Omega 3 Merrick also has a canned Trout... I bought a can but I haven't had the guts to try it.

| I feed my Yorkie fish all the time. He loves it! He has had shellfish also with no problems (crab meat, shrimp). I WOULD NOT feed the fish to them RAW. When I was last at the vey, I read in a pamphlet about raw fish leading to some disease. They say you should package up fish trash very well so that the dog cannot get into it. Canned tuna and salmon are cooked to a certain degree. Here is a link that I found. But I will admit I do feed him some of this stuff, like potatos *he loves them. http://www.peteducation.com/article....articleid=1030 |

| It also depends on the way it was cooked, keep an eye on the seasonings and oil you use.

| Linolenic acid (omega-3) include fish oils (especially cold-water fish such as salmon, mackerel, halibut, and herring). They are also fooound in canola and flax oils, flax seeds, walnuts, soybeans and freshly ground wheat germ. I give my dogs fresh salmon once a week when we buy it fresh and grill the same day. They also love sardines packed in oil. |
