| For those who home cook or are interested in homecooking..... Did you happen to watch the animal channel last night with the animal rescue officers in New York? They went to the home of an older lady who had way too many cats and a dog in her apartment. The cats were all skinny and sickly looking...she was feeding them rice and vegetables. When the vet looked at them he noticed their eyes were totally dialated...you could hardly see any of the color because the pupil was so large. Anyway, he said they were going blind from not getting enough Taurine in their diet. So, if you home cook or are considering it please be sure you are supplimenting with the proper vitamins and minerals. |

| Yes, supplementing is not an option. Cats have to have taurine and I don't think it's a good idea to not give them meat. We use an all-in-one supplement here.

Though...I think that only cats need taurine-not dogs? Does anyone know?

| Dogs do not have to have it as far as I know. The lady on the show was feeding them very little meat.
