| retained baby teeth Retained baby teeth are very common in yorkies especially some lines. I always have mine removed when they are spayed or neutered |

As far as her teeth, retained baby teeth are not uncommon. You will need to schedule to have them removed however. Generally having that done at the same time as a spay is the best option--kills two birds with one stone. | |

| Ah, well...there goes that option. It's a simple procedure...routine and non-invasive, so even on alone it is not what you'd call a major procedure, but very important to have done never the less. Just talk w/ your vet and plan to have the retained teeth extracted once all of her adult teeth have come in. |

| Zoey had 3 removed when she was spayed. I think it is very common.

| For some reasons it's common in Yorkies. I'd talk to your vet about getting them taken out. Maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised, and most of them will be out. Tug of ropes also helps get them out.

| I love YT! I just noticed one of my little guys has a retained tooth (his adult tooth is starting to come in behind his baby tooth). This thread was such a relief to find! He's already been neutered, so I need to make another vet appt. But at least I know this is somewhat common and doesn't warrant a trip to the ER |

| Spike had the same problem, and ended up having TEN baby teeth removed (six regular and four canines) when he was neuteured. It is a simple and common procedure, and he was fine by the next day. I was told that if you leave them in too long, several problems can result, including the adult teeth growing in at wrong angles, causing bite problems, and infection can also become a problem. Talk to your vet. I'm sure you'll find it a common occurence, particularly in smaller breeds. |
