| Collapsed Trachea Stent Surgery My baby had emergency stent surgery 3 weeks ago and can't stop coughing. I'm so worried that I won't be able to fix this. Has anyone experience with the surgery? I'm so upset. I get no sleep as he can't sleep. I've tried everything. THe medicine doesn't help all the way. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Well, it seems a bit odd that he's coughing so much that he can't sleep - that certainly will hinder healing. Unfortunately, it'd be hard to say what the coughing is from - it could be from the irritation of the stent (as the surrounding tissue heals), it could be from the irritation of being intubated - or a combo. I would definitely ask for a cough suppresant bc the continuned coughing will hinder healing in all kinds of ways (ie, increased pressure in the throat, exhaustion etc.). I hope he is feeling better soon!

| He went to the U of Penna. Can't get much better than that.. I was hoping someone was in the same boat as me. He is on major meds, suppressants and they don't work. THe only thing that really works is if he sleeping or just stands there. It is so sad. He has no life. |

| U Penn's animal hospital is the best you can get in this area - I'm about 15 min. from Philadelphia - did they give you any things to watch for after the surgery? I'm not familiar with the procedure, but I'll be keeping you baby in my thoughts and prayers! |
