Need advice on eating poop First of all, I have to brag about him, he has been so good since we got him, which has only been 5 days. He is doing so well with his poop and pee outside, and actually enjoys sleeping in his kennel during the night. He goes down to sleep around 11 and does not get up to go pee till around 6, I think that is awesome. My little problem is, I caught him trying to eat his own poop, I know gross. Right now, I chase him around outside so I can catch him before he does it, I let him smell it afterward and tell him no, is that what you do? I also heard about giving pineapple, can you give it to them at a young age, he is only 8 weeks and does not have all his teeth yet, and can it be from the can. Please help, I have had 4 dogs and none did this (well not that I am aware of anyway), I would love for him to stop it. This is him the first day we got him, fitting in right away. Our other dog Nelly, is warming up to him, they play alot, Nelly is usually not that warming to other dogs but boy do they have fun. I actually enjoy watching them play more than watching the TV, which is alot.

My dog did this last year I call them poopcicles. I was told if you put pumpkin in his food he won't like it. That's regular pumpkin not pumpkin for pies. They seem to like it in their food but not once it has gone through the system. If mine does it this year I'm going to tape his mouth shut. (Only kidding) Nothing like being burped on by a poopcicle eating dog

Neither of my yorkies eat their poop, but my lab is a poop feind!!!!!!!! I have tried EVERYTHING! I've tried pineapple, meat tenderizer, stuff you get from the pet store that you sprinkle on their food, etc. etc. None of it worked and none of it is good for them. What I have to do is watch all the dogs when they go outside to potty and if any of them poop, I have to pick it up IMMEDIATELY or my lab will eat it. I would be completely shocked if your yorkie did not grow out of this behavior considering his age. What I would recommend is picking it up right away after he goes and break his habit. Before long, he will probably have forgotten what poop tastes like and not do it anymore. I wouldn't put anything on his food considering his age.

Join the PUPPY POOP EATING ClUB LOL. I'm gonna try pumpkin or pineapple next. I went out and paid big bucks for the tablets that don't work for him, He hates them. I smelt one and I don't blame him.

My female ate her poop all the time. I tried several things but none worked. Now that she's mostly trained she's running around the house or in my lap and except for once a couple of days ago (early in the morning) she hasn't eaten any poop. Maybe she was bored. She's 16 mo. old. My male doesn't do that fortunately.

Mya used to eat her poop as well..I was TOTALLY shocked...I've never heard of this before...well I phoned a friend of mine that is a dog trainer, and she told me.....EVERY TIME Mya has a poop..make sure you pick it up. So I did this and now she is 8 months old, and she does NOT eat poop. My son brings his 2 Beagles over and I have no fear that Mya will eat their poop...I have stood back and watched before picking up the poop... I believe they do grow out of it....but I also think you have to be very dedicated on scooping up the poop emediately/....JMHO

McKenzie will eat poop sometimes unless I get there to clean it RIGHT away. I've read about it and I don't think there's much to do besides to get to it right away and make sure you're feeding a really good food.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | he's just cleaning his territory. This behavior is most common in females. There are a couple things you can try 1) pick up the poop right away, eventually they forget they liked to eat it and stop trying to go after it. 2)purchase deter or forbid from your vet. tastes good going in the first time but terrible the second time 3) meat tenderizer on their food (same idea as above) 4) put hot sauce on their poop before they get to it to make the poop taste bad.

The weird thing is that we have two other dogs and he does not go to theirs, and he only goes to the fresh, I tried him by leaving his out there and when he went out he walks by sometimes smells and then leaves again, is this a good sign. He is still so small that I let him run to the door to go but I have to bring him out because I have steps and bringing him in, I let him run in himself after I bring him up over the stairs, just so he can get use to where he has to go, hopefully it works, and he is doing so well, a couple of accidents but usually only once a day, I am an at home mom, so he is pretty much with me 24/7.
