| Am I just being a worrywort? I'm worried and need some reassurance/advice. Tyke is going for his vaccines and exam today but he is soooo tiny that I'm concerned about his ability to cope. I bought him at 5 mos. so he'd already had his puppy shots but he's only 2.5 lbs and I'm really worried about a possible reaction. I do plan to ask the vet to split the vaccine and have it done in two appointments rather than one, but wonder if anyone could advise me as to what else I can do to ensure there is no reaction. Another worry is that the clinic is an hours' drive away which further complicates matters if there are problems. Of course I will discuss this with the vet before Tyke gets his shot... but if anybody has any suggestions I'd REALLY appreciate it. |

| Dakota had all her shots by the time she was 2 lbs. Nothing went wrong. You are just being a typical mom I am sure he will do fine. |

| What shots is he going in for? If he's had all his shots, then he's not due for more until a year after his other shots..I had Gingers 15 week shots yesterday, she is 3 lbs. but, she did fine, didn't even whine when they stuck her, and was pretty active the rest of the day..your baby will be fine.. |

| I think shots scare me more than my babies! Same way with my son when he was little. Talk to your vet and follow his advice if you trust him, believe me they don't want anything to happen and will take every precaution to keep your baby safe. |

| Thank you for the reassurances guys - he's actually going in for his annual booster as he's about 16 mos. old. I'm o.k. with him being sleepy... actually, sleepy would be a GOOD thing, he makes the EverReady Bunny look lethargic. I guess the thing that makes me worried is that a friend of mine had a puppy who had a really bad reaction. The pup was a Bichon, so much bigger than what my Tyke is now, and they had to rush it back to the vets before they even got home as he was vomitting over and over. This was, as I said, a pup with MUCH more body mass than Tyke AND not even a whole vaccine, just the 2nd puppy booster. (gulp) |

| When I was taking Niko for his the vet told me that if he was going to have a reaction it would be within the first hr..and if that was the case I would just bring him back and they could help him. He said the reactions don't happen often. I am sure Tyke will do just fine. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Mention to the vet your concerns and see if they have any thing to offer you about what to do or how to prevent reactions. When Cali had a reaction to her 2nd set of shots (she screamed when I picked her up and seemed like she was in pain for awhile. I mentioned it to my vet and she said she would give her some new oral spray (I think it was) fthat would help her with the pain afterwards. SHe has not had any problems since with shots. I would make sure you have Benydryl at home in case of a reaction. I know some people stay at the vet for an hout after to make sure no complications. I am sure he will do fine but definatley mention your concerns to the vet.

| Thanks everyone - we're home and he seems fine... a bit achey perhaps, he flinches when I pick him up. I'll monitor closely and if he needs it, I'll tuck him into his crate with a "heating disc" and call in for the right dose of medicam. (which I always keep on hand) The vet was great with him and kept commenting what a cute little fellow he was (while I just grinned) Tyke was a trooper and to everyone's surprise, didn't react at all for that nasty needle. BEST OF ALL... he's up to 2 lbs. 14 oz. which is the most he's EVER weighed. It's SUCH a struggle getting him to to eat that when I heard he made such a good gain I did a "happy dance" all the way to the car. (making sure there were no witnesses of course) Thanks again for being so supportive. |

| Your just being a mom Meka's had all of her shots and shes a petite girl... The only time she had an issue was when I took her for her first set of shots (w/ me... already had shots w/ breeder)... she had a fever and she was a little sore - but, I spoiled her all night and she was fine
