| Too SKinny!! I've taken Riley to 3 different vets since I've had him. All three vets say that he is "alittle skinny" Its driving me crazy. Riley eats and eats and eats all the time. He weighs 2.5lbs. I can sorta feel his ribs, but its not terrible. I have him on Eukanuba Small Breed Puppy dog food. Do any of you hear this alot from the vet? |

| is he wormed? coz when i had my yorkie pup..the first time he went to see the vet, the vet actually say he is way too heavy for his size, but a few weeks later, he went to the vet again, and the vet say he was actually losing weight. but he was eating loads and loads, he ate like three meals a day, with three handful of dry dog food each meal...so the vet gave him a wormed tablet. and that nite, when he was doing his poo poo..i saw like 7 worms from his poo, and thats the reason y he is losing weight. |

| The vet gave him a tablet yesterday. He isn't actually losing weight. He has gained more than a pound since his last vet visit. They just said he was skinny. Hes pooped once, but no worms. I guess I'll just keep checking his poop. Last edited by spruitt7; 11-16-2007 at 05:58 AM. |

My furkids Donating Member | Morning! How old is he? When Sadie was about a yr old I thought she was too skinny too. She was very healthy but, I was a little concerned. All of a sudden she started to fill out. Sadie is 6 lbs now and she is 3 yrs old. Just an FYI...Eukanuba isn't the best food to be feeding him. It has by-products in it...If you google by-products and read what they are I guarentee you will stop feeding him that food. (JMO)There is a food rating chart on here (somewhere!) that one of the members posted. If you type food chart in the search bar it should come up, with alittle bit of browsing....

| Does the vet give you any advice? Is the vet worried? Maybe he is just gonna be a tiny cutie patootie. |

| The vet isn't really worried because his heart sounds fine and hes playing like normal. I read about the by-products, but I don't know what type of dog food would be good for Riley. I have no idea how to go about changing his food without making him sick also. Any advice? |

Switching is easy, just add about 10-20% of the new kibble to his food, for about 4 days - if he's doing great (stools are good), then add in 30% new kibble, wait 4 days or so, add in 50%, then 75% and so on. You could also add a good supplement like Missing Link, Salmon/fish oil - or even a little home cooking, but that's a whoooooole 'nother subject.

| Ellie has been skinny her whole life. She is six-years-old. On a scale of 1-10, she is about a 4 (so just underweight). The vet isn't concerned but says if she is hungry, let her eat. She is so skinny because her metabolism is a mile a minute.

| I think I'm going to change his food to Canidae All Life Stages. I've been researching it today and alot of people on here are happy with it. Its alot better than Eukanuba. Hopefully this will help. |
