| lump after shots Has any of your yorkies gotten a lump on their back or neck after getting their shots? Starsky got his rabies shot on Friday last week and he as a lump about the size of a dime on the back of his neck. I am assuming it is from the shot because when he got his 8 week shot he got a small bump then. He didn't get bumps with his other shots between his 8 weeks and this last one. Is this fairly normal?

| Yeah, Starsky's mom, it's normal. And it may take a few weeks to finally go away. Just watch it and make sure it doesn't get bigger cause that would indicate something else like a bug bite, etc. Bo had a small lump after one of his shots too. It eventually went away. Very cute avatar by the way!!

| Mine both got their rabies in their hip, but they too had hematomas (the bump) from the vaccine. You just have to keep massaging it to make the blood that has pooled go down.

| Like the girls above said, massage it down and it shouldn't last longer than 2 weeks, if so, go back toyour vet. |

| Otis's rabies bump lasted for two years now, and he lost hair in the area where the shot was administered. |

| bump Gracie also got a bump after her rabies shot, and I thought it would never go away...it was there for almost 3 weeks, but the vet said that was normal.

| Max had a bump after but Missy never did.. It goes away in a day or two but may be a sensitive area so I tried to avoid touching it or Max would let out a little cry.

| Wow....Sophie has a bump on her back from shots, too. She hasn't had her rabie shots yet, so it must have been from some other type of shot. She has had it two weeks. I hope that isn't too long. I guess I should call her vet again. The first time I called, he said it was normal and said it could last weeks....but didn't give a definite time frame. Her bump is about the size of a pea. |

| Homeopathy for vaccines A few years ago I got into homeopathy treatments for dogs. For Annie after her shots the vet used Thuja 30c to help clear the affects of the shot to her system. It worked wonders! She didn't get the usual lump or symptoms of any sickness. She was also diagnosed with liver cancer when she was about 8 or 9. We started her on a raw diet and homeopathy. She lived to be 13.5! She finally walked over the rainbow bridge in march. She is definitely missed. A wonderful book I would recommend for those interested in working with natural remedies is: Natural Healing for Dogs & Cats by Diane Stein There are many other wonderful books out there about alternative medicine. Happy healing |

| Lump It is very normal to have a lump. Your puppy may show some tenderness in the spot. It will all normally go away in a week to ten days. Wnalegria |
