| Poop gets stuck!!! Hi everyone, im fairly new here. i joined up a few weeks ago but havent been online for a little while. I just got my little boy yorkie just over 2 weeks ago; he's 8 and a half weeks now. He seems to have gotten some poop stuck half way out. I used lots of water to loosen it and get it off without tugging but his little rectum looked swollen to me. But i am a complete beginner at this. Does anyone have this problem and what should i do about it. I am going to trim him around there as soon as i get some new sharp scissors but that wont address the 'getting stuck half in half out' isse. I guess he might need something to soften it. What is the best thing to use. Also, he just under a pounde at 6 weeks so i estimate he will grow to be a 4 pound adult. How much in teaspoons/tablespoons, should he be eating. Phew...that was a lot of questions. All the best to everyone. thx, jo |

| As far as the pooping thing goes, just make sure he's getting enough water. It took Kaba a few days at home to adjust to drinking water. (they were mixing her food with the water before I got her) Just sounds like a case of constipation to me. Probably a little irritated from that whole fiasco and will take a few days to not be swollen anymore. Kaba got some runny poop right after I brought her home and she rubbed her butt along the floor. Of course, it scared the crap out of me thinking she had worms and what not but the vet said it was just irritated. My Yorkie was right at a pound at 8 weeks. I think thats a pretty normal size. I wouldn't assume he would be much smaller than 6 or 7 pounds. I asked my vet the same question about the food. He said there really isnt any definite amount but he said the best way to judge is about what the dog can eat in roughly 10 min or so. Its all a learning process and thank goodness for forums like this one. Good Luck! And if his bottom doesnt seem to get better in a few days take him in to make sure everything is alright. | I dont know about the food cant remember how much I fed mine when they were younger so hopefully someone else will help you with that one. When the poop gets stuck a good thing to do is to stick there bums in some warm water. That will stimulate it to come out. I do remember I had to keep the hair by their bums short when they wee young or pop would get stuck on it

| You can trim him up a little bit around his private areas, that usually helps. |
