Default Attention all new feeders of raw.....

Seems a lot of us are taking the plunge this weekend and I wanted to record the progress in pics....how about you? Let's compare before and after pics.

I made the trip today to pic up the NV raw medallions (chicken) and hope that Delilah will eat in the morning without a hitch....keep your fingers crossed.

Poor baby got car sick on the drive and has done a lot of sleeping today. Hope she is not coming down with something.

Not all dogs take to it the first time around so be patient and don't leave it down for more than 20 minutes. Mine have been on it for about 6-7 months.

Well, I've been feeding NV raw for a year and a half but we did try the lamb medallions for the first time today (only ones we haven't tried). Lacy ate them a little slower than normal but still pretty quickly. I think she liked it. My younger cat also got a lamb medallion today and seemed to like it as well.

I was thinking taking a pic of our babies when they start and then again at maybe two weeks, four weeks...etc. to see the improvements...would love to be able to get pics of teeth but doubt my baby would let me get a pic of hers!

............kudos to you for taking the plunge and trying the raw diet w your babies.........get a raw chicken breast and cut in little strips and see if she likes those....you will need to add bones of course but this is a start....get a book on the raw diet to get the basics and encouragement you need to continue...............the bottom line is ........BELIEF..........if you truly believe this is going to change your dog's life forever you will find a way to make this work..........all the best to all of you!

Hmm..I am sorry...but I am sure Delilah will give in somehow...just be patience. I am sure Lara, Abbie's mom and MyFairLacy will be able to help you more..

How about this? Not sure if this works? What does your baby like to eat? Maybe mix some of that with the NV? Did you cut the medallions into smaller pieces? Maybe Delilah is used to the kibble size and not sure how to handle the medallions size?

just tried it again and she was not interested so i sat down and hand fed her. she ate a little of it which is better than nothing but I was so hoping she would enjoy it without me having to coax her.

Default Raw

I used to board 6 Yorkies from time to time who ate RAW...I could not stand the smell of their facial hair and teeth..you need to wash the face hair and brush the teeth after meals or the raw food particules will get in the whiskers/teeth..nothing smells worse then purid chickens meat...I made the mistake of kissing one of her puppies and barfed...

I don't know what kind of RAW these dogs were eating but a raw prey model diet is THE BEST thing thing for dogs teeth and breath. My pups breath smells so nice that I look forward to them giving me kisses and their teeth are pearly white. Its inevitable that if people don't wash their dogs their face will become dirty whatever they eat.

Tissy, either try mixing it with whatever she usually eats, something you know she loves or you can sear it in a pan, don't cook it just literally throw it in a hot pan with olive oil for 2 seconds and then out. It will bring the smells out, she will come round to it soon enough and then you can stop doing it, don't give up. Right now she probably doesen't even think it is food because of being used to commercial.

I always tear Lacy's medallions into smaller pieces. She never had any trouble eating them...she gobbled them down from day one.

You might try this - it usually works well with cats who are extrememly picky about change. Get some of the Nature's Variety canned food. It's called Instinct and is grain-free. See if she'll eat the canned first. Then start slowly adding some of the raw mixed in with the canned...slowly decreasing the amount of canned and increasing the amount of raw until you're only feeding the raw. Depending on how picky she is, it can take a few days - to a couple weeks. Just make sure the canned food is GRAIN-FREE.
