Question Anyone have experience w/ ORIJEN 6 FRESH FISH???

Hobbs has always had skin issues. I've had him on Natural Balance Duck & Potato for probably a year now and his skin is not flakey anymore, but it is still so dry and itchy!!!!! So, with winter at our door and all the dry skin that goes with it, I'm trying something new. I ordered Orijen 6 Fresh Fish online to try. It's high in protein which concerns me somewhat, but I hope the new protein source and the omega fatty acids from the fish will work well for him!

Any input on this product from others would be appreciated!!!!!!!

contrary to popular belief, there is NOTHING wrong with high protien dog foods as long as you have a healthy pup. I have only heard GREAT things about Orijen and if i wasn't homecooking/feeding raw, i woudl feed that

YIPPY.....Rebecca it is really you.... Glad to have you back my dear - hee, hee!! At least for tonight!!!

I am not sure about the food but thought I would tell you I have just started cooking for Murphy and Mia home cooked meals. I am no expert by any means but so far it is going well and I am getting some great help form other YT members who do the same.

Also I just ordered a book to help me make sure I am giving them all the proper nutrients and vitamins they need. I wonder if this would help Mr. Hobbs?

Caren, I would love more than anything to cook for my babies. But honestly, since I hardly cook for Will, I think he would get a little jealous!!!!!! hehehe

That's hilarious!!!!!!!!!!! Since I've been so busy, Will has been doing most of the cooking lately. I wouldn't trust him to do it right if he had to cook for the pups. Is that wrong of me?

Default Fresh Fish 6

You won't like the smell of the fresh fish, but your dog will. It smells like fish. I bought some for my Mini Schnauzers and gave some to my daughter who has a Yorkie. All of them like Orijen 6, they had been eating Canidea and they still eat that too. My daughter's Yorkie is a picky eater and she will pick the fish food out of another brand to eat it. It's funny how dogs like stuff that smells. David

Teddy is on the regular Orijen and is doing great!! I have been wanting to try the 6 fish, but we still have about half a bag left. I think your baby will do great on the Orijen. Keep us posted on how he likes it!!

Is this a type of dog food or just a oil or supplement you put on the dog food?

a warning, since this food is all fish Hobbs might get a smelly mouth and beard from it that just won't go away. I can always tell which dogs eat a fish based food when they come into the hospital because they have a fishy odor.

Honestly, if this food helps his skin, I can probably handle the fish smell. I've been using salmon oil n his food for about a year now trying to get his skin clear so I'm used to the fish smell anyway.

Default Orijen 6

My 2 doggies ate a small bag of the fresh fish and their breath was a tad bad right after eating, but later on it was fine. If you take a piece out of the bag , it smells like fresh fish! It is a fish based dog food. The puppies love it smell and all. Here is a link> David
