| Vaccinations I have a 6 month old yorkie and he hasnt had all his shots yet. I live in Chicago, so the sidewalks are germy. I'm so paranoid about letting Riley go outside AT ALL till he gets his shots. Hes had two parvo shots and one rabies shot. I'm not sure what other shots he needs before I can stop being paranoid about the sidewalk. Lol. |

| Thats what I thought too, but when I took him to the vet, he said he was too young and didnt weigh enough. So if I take him to a vet this week, what nessary shots should I get him? Hes had 2 parvo and 1 rabies. Thats all the breeder gave him. |

| Just curious... If the vet didn't think it was wise to give him a shot by that time, how come the breeder gave him already 3 shots??? If I was you, I would show to the vet the brands of the vaccines the breeder used on your pup... Another thing, pups have to be vaccinated against distemper and others virus... sorry, I can't find the translation of the names of the others diseases... |

As far as the breeder giving him the shots, I don't think he had a problem or anything with them.

But about vaccines, over here in Brazil, we usully give shots against 8 diferent types of viruses... And I know these same viruses are spread in USA too... Talk to your vet... better safe than sorry...

| I would go to another vet. Not only is he due for more shots but they are supposed to be given together so many weeks apart from each other so they are effective

| I emailed the breeder and she said she gives this: vanguard plus 5 6,9,12 weeks of age I'm not sure what it is though. Anybody wanna help? Do you think my baby will be okay for about a week till I can take him to the vet to get his up to date shots. I'm not going to be taking him outside at all till then. |

We have Vanguard over here too, and it's very good... I gave 4 rounds of those combo shots on my girls too... Spruitt7, don't worry your pup will be just fine... But I would hold him while outside your house, if you don't have the vet's "okay" yet...

| Usually parvo and distemper are given three times. It isn't necessary to give them four unless it was started too young and the maternal antibiodies made the shot have no affect. This is something you really need to ask your vet about. If he had three rounds the vet may not want to do more until his one year boosters.
