| I am kinda sorta new at the puppy game, but I clip my puppy's nails for the first time when they are between 2 and 3 weeks -- as soon as I start feeling a little sharp point. |

| I clip at a week old. First to protect mom from those sharp lil nails. Second to get them use to the process. I use lil cat clippers...the scissor type.

| I do exactly the same thing, works great! I clip nails every 2 weeks after that, and I shave little bums too on the same schedule. |

| I don't shave, I clip with baby manicure scissors, around the anal opening....You do this to keep that area sanitary and free of those little ornaments the suprise us with. I do begin shaving their pads and ears very young....at about 1 week of age.....first to assist the ears in coming up and 2nd to insure they have sure footing when they begin to walk....

| You can use people nail clippers and cut off the real white part of puppy nails. After you cut them, use an emery board and file them a little to help keep them from being to scratchy. |

| Be sure to use clippers with the "teeth" of the clippers are very close together.. Mustache groomers, finishing clippers etc. so that you don't cut them, or slice an ear.. Had a groomer do that one time.. I just fell apart! Mardelin, what do you use for the pads of the feet? I have trouble with the hair in between the pads. |

Hello, I clip nails at between 6-8 weeks old. Look at the underneath of the nail, It is whiter and most times open before the cuticle. Cut in the white area, above the pink! ( if in doubt just cut at the very curve of the little nail of the baby) It takes a bit of practice holding the paw, but it isnt hard, with practice. You can buy small dog clippers from your local pet supply store. | |
