| How soon should we go to a groomer? Wicket is 12 weeks old and has never been to a groomer. I bathed him for the first time yesterday, and BOY was that an adventure! But we both survived thankfully. Since then, I've started wondering when I should start taking him to the groomer so he can get used to being handled and groomed. I've found a great groomer in my area recommended by our vet and a family member as well. I also intend to watch, so I can learn how to handle him as I bathe him in between grooming sessions. I initially thought that waiting a few more weeks would be good, what do you guys think? Sorry for all these questions, but I'm totally new to these little guys. |

| I would say that he is good to go now if he has his kennel cough vaccine. I think Kobi went at about 12 weeks, and while he didn't enjoy it, he did live If he doesn't have the vaccine, then I would say wait till that takes effect, and then you're good to go. And be sure to post pics after you get him groomed

| I waited until Gracie was 6 months. That was too long. I was just lucky that Gracie did not freak out when she finally did go. You are probably safe to go now as long as you have the necessary vaccines. A good groomer will use the first few visits to get the dog used to the grooming process. He/she will start with just a bath and nail trim, maybe a trim around the eyes and butt. No major clipping for several visits!

| Thanks for the insight! I'm not sure what goes on at the groomers except for the high level bath and cuts. I'd like to watch so I can properly bathe him in between visits to the groomer. Since I bathed him yesterday (Oooooh what an adventure that was) I'll probably make an appointment for him in a few weeks and see how it goes. |

| Lily was about 6 months. If you can get them use to it as a puppy they don't stress out as much. Some groomers require proof of vacinations too, so make sure he is up to date on those.

| Mr Wickett got his most recent vaccinations on Monday, so I think we're good on that front. We go again in 3 weeks for his next round of shots. Boy do they have to go to the vet a lot! My parrots go once a year! |
