Love grandmatoall

Thank you so much. I have had trouble getting my TJ to leave his bow in. Now, thanks to your information, I know how to properly do it. Wish me luck.

I'm so glad you posted this site, which I'll be using from now on.
I just got back from the grooming place, if you can call it that. After a few days debating on long or short, I decided to go short for summer and will grow in time for winter.I had my appointment for this morning , I requested a puppy cut...
Max looks like a lawn mower went over him!!!! some long hairs some short, on side of his face longer than the other, his front legs had some hairs to the floor, which I saw before I left, so I asked the lady to please fix it,
When I got home and took his bandanna off, I realized that it was all wrong, I took him back, the lady got so mad, and got the dog she was doing and put him back in the cage, when all the dogs started barking, she started hitting the front of the cages scramming to Shut Up, she tried to fix shaving his body, not shaved completely, I would say a number 2.My poor baby, he had a long to the floor coat, that has been so hard to keep up, and now ...I hate to say, but he looks horrible.
Has any of you had this problem, I don't know what to do, I just wonder what happens when we are not there, I've been going to this place for 3 years, but this is the first time I've had this happen.
Any suggestions?

Oh your poor baby and those poor dogs.
How dare she slam the cages like that!!!
It's tough enough for us to drop our dogs off at a new groomer and place our trust in them.But...........
It's even harder on our furkids.
My first experience was not only infuriating but a nightmare.
My Yorkie's first grooming was to say the least, the worst experience for both of us.
Jack was 16 weeks old when I took him in for his first grooming.
Upon picking him up, he looked wonderful but I noticed something was off.
He had been shaking and when I took him home, my baby was limping.
I picked him up and checked out his back leg and paw.
The leg was fine but he wouldn't let me go near his paw.
I figured maybe it was aggrivated from his nail clipping.
We all know how much our babies hate that...
Well the next day he was still limping so I said thats it and took him right in to our local vet.
After examining him, the vet concluded that his paw was fractured.
She said some groomers are not careful when clipping their nails and fractured his back right paw.
Well thats all I needed to hear.
When we got home, I phoned her and tried to explain what had happened.
She said she was sorry and dared to tell me that this happens alot ,especially with the small breeds because they are figidy.?????????????
Yeah right!!
Needless to say, I told her to go back to school and develope some handling skills.
This was not normal and I will never bring Jack back there.
Since that experience, to this day, Jack doesn't like any of his paws touched.
The experience traumatized him and I learned how to clip his nails.
It takes me awhile because, I try to be as gentle as I can and stop to give him a break, when he gets too anxious.

I'm glad to hear that I'm not alone on this, I did'nt even want to think I was over reacting...I'll be keeping a close eye on him, ever since we got back he is just laying on his bed, and that is not usual with him.
I wonder if there is a number or an address where this things can be reported.
I feel so guilty, and upset and on top of that, I had to pay these people for a job badly done!!!!
I just hope I find a new place, or I'll be doing it myself..

Good question....unfortunately I don't think theres any groomers union to report abuse to...but in your case, what u witnessed, " the hitting of the cages"...that's a form of animal cruelty isn't it???
I would think so.
Time to call the humane society.
And if I were you...I would contact the better business bureau and file a grievance on her and the shop.
Atleast the public will know about her horrible animal skills.

I was just wondering as a first time Yorkie owner when is the first time he should see a groomer besides the daily brushing he gets from me .Wiz is just over 3 months old so I am not sure if that is too young for anything besides a daily brushing . Speaking of which , which is the best type of brush to use as I have a tried a people brush , a dog comb , and a cat slicker .. and he still looks like a messy scalawag ?
