When you groom your Yorkie, do you cut the hair on their belly? If so, how short is it supposed to be?

I don't have Gracie's belly hair cut, at least not yet. I guess if it started dragging on the ground I would!

Winston's tummy is definitely shaved, from just under his rib cage to his little bottom. The sides are kept long though, so it doesn't look cut, unless of course he's "belly up". This helps, so he doesn't pee on himself, and his poop doesn't get caught in his hair. Don't know exactly how it's done cuz he goes to a groomer, but it's for sure shaved.

I clip Hannahs really short because she plays outside alot and she ends up getting sticks and dirt and leaves in it. It works out better for us. I just use the shortest clip guard.

Right now, Miko's belly is shaved because they shaved it when he had his bladder surgery. Normally, we keep it long like his hair, but we do trim his butt hair so #2 doesn't get stuck.

you so just read my mind i just got done bathing Daisy and i was noticing how much hair she has on her bell now and i have shaved Peeka's belly but wasn't sure if anyone did this to the females?

So when you say "belly" when speaking of the females - does that include shaving her girly parts?

I have often wondered if groomers will take that hair off - Xena has really long hair there and it traps pee smell. I groom her myself so I am trying to learn all the steps.

Bogey's under side gets shaved about halfway (from the middle to the end )
It helps on the smell & things getting hung in his hair.

My two girls and little man all get their bellies shave (up to the rib cage, around the private areas and under the tail, so we don't have anything getting stuck...lol

I shave all the way to the front legs, and around their bottoms/privates too. We're all smooth belly's here. I use the smallest guard on both my male and my female.
