| here goes nothing well after a lot of research i've decided i'm going to do Layla's grooming myself I am not taking her to PetSmart anymore.. she comes home too stressed out.. we'll just go there for nail clippings... and the whole mobile groomer thing ... after i found out about their water situation.. i will not be doing that... and i am just too worried about leaving her at someone's house... therefore... all that leaves me with is MOI!!! i'm going to go pick up some grooming scissors... any tricks of the trade are MORE THAN WELCOME! i'm so nervous.. we are going to the soo for easter.. when we get back i'll be attempting my first trim i think if i can get the hang of it i'll have to buy a grooming table because Layla isn't crazy about staying still on the counter... but here goes nothing |

| Well, good for you, I'm sure you'll do fine I am far from an expert but I have found that a grooming noose with a suction cup on the end helps keep mine still while on the counter and/or in the sink - I just attach it to the tile wall. I also groom them every week before their bath - or I should say I go through the 'motions' of grooming them every week. Regardless of whether they need their nails trimmed or hair cut I do the whole routine and just lightly trim. I found that now they are very calm and there are never any 'surprises' for them because they know the clippers, scissors and nail trimmer will come out every single week

| You'll do great!i just now looked at Layla's pics on dogster.I love the expression on her face in the pic where she is wearing the little green coat. It almost looks like she's thinking.....oh nooo..it's raining! She is beautiful. Best of luck with the grooming. |

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | My BEST purchase EVER was my grooming table. I'm doing my own grooming and it was my best purchase. They act completely different while on there. You'll find you will be able to do the nails yourself, using a table. I have a Pug that it would take my husbands FULL strength to hold down for me to do her nails, and with the table.......she's fine So my advice to you is, invest in a table. It does wonders Good Luck, you can do it. You'll like being in control of your babvies looks, instead of someone else. |

| The only advice I could possibly give would be to have everything set up and ready. Then.....take.....your......time. It helps cut down on their anxiety. Don't allow outside distractions like the phone ringing...let it ring. I started mine as soon as I brought them home, doing nothing but standing them on this non-slick pad on top of a card table where I can sit also and be comfortable. I kept a few frosted cheerios nearby and when they did what they were suppose to do, they got a treat. The first few times, all I did was comb and brush them. Just got them use to the table. I'm very blessed, all of mine do wonderful now. I do have a helpful hint, and that is right after their bath, while their nails are still soft, keep them wrapped tightly in the towel and trim their nails. Mine use to give me fits at nail time, but not anymore. Good luck to you...I'm sure once you get the hang of it, you'll do great.
