Which shampoo or conditioner?? I had a bad experience with my dogs hair and trying to maintain it, to the point that i had to shave him I need to know what is good shampoo or conditioner or any tips to try to maintain good yorkie hair. i am soooooo upset cause now i have to wait forever for his beautiful hair to grow! This my first yorkie and i feel that i have failed...as a yorkie mom. I have had short haired dogs my whole life so maintaining good hair was never a big issue. Please help because i can't keep shaving him he's probably freezing!

His hair got knoted so i had to shave him. He gets all crazy when i go to brush him. He wont stand still and starts to want to eat the brush. I am use to brushing his hair wet, which at first was ok, until i let my boy friend take him a shower and he didn't brush his hair. After that he fell off the bed and broke his paw. The doctor said i couldn't wet his cast, soooooo know shower for him for a while. But thank god it healed right because the little sucker loves running around everywhere. So that was my dilema.

I don't know if this will work for your boy but this is what I did for all my girls. When I first got them I made a point to touch them often on their paws, ears, tail, etc. I usually did it when they were sleeping until they got use to it then did it while they were awake. I let them smell the brush before I touched them. Then I brushed them a bit, let them smell the brush, brushed them some more. I kept talking to them in a cool, calm and happy voice as I was doing this. Through all this if they tried to bite the brush I'd give them a firm NO BITE command (closing their mouths and saying not bite in a low loud voice) and tried again. When they were good I'd praise them like crazy. I probably brushed them too much but it is idea to get them conditioned to it. If you do it often enough they will get use to it. He will have to be broken in slowly with the tips above. Don't give up! If need be brush him when he's dead sleeping until you can break him into when he is awake. It will take time and patience but soon he will get use to it.

Ooops also have to add that Queequeg was full of knots when I got her. I thought about shaving her down but didn't.....What I did was I put conditioner on the knots and used a slicker brush. I guarded the slicker brush from touching her skin by laying the knot over my hand and holding her skin (so as not to pull) and brushed the knot out over my hand. Some could pull apart with my fingers and heavy conditioner. I only had to cut a few knots out but the rest came out with the slicker brush.

I comb Hannah every day with a flea comb. I spray Ice On Ice on her first then brush. I use dog shampoo and conditioner when I bath her. I just ordered but yet to use Cranberry Fields that I ordered from BeyondSpoiled. It is supposed to be really good. I have also heard some people on here use Pantene shampoo and Aussie 3 min miracle. Good luck.

| We just received our order of the Coat Handler shampoo, conditioner, and anti-static detangling spray. We looooove those products. It makes Miko's hair look and feel soooo good. We use the detangling spray when we brush him, and it does just like it says. We used the Pure Paws products before, but they really didn't do too much for him, so we decided to try Coat Handler. Good luck with your baby's coat!
