time to start bathing - any tips?

ok I need to start bathing my little guy! (just got a yorkie pup a week and a half ago). ok - can anyone offer some tips of how I go about doing this? I don't use soap right - just shampoo and conditioner, correct? Put him in the sink right?

Also, are there any particular shampoo brands that are recommended? So far I see a lot of posts that mention Biogroom, Fresh N' Clean, and Petsilk brands. Any differences between these three or I am good with either of them? really appreciate it! thanks.

Use a baby shampoo or a puppy shampoo if he is still a puppy. They also like a warm towel right out of the dryer to get wrapped in while they dry a bit

It can easily be a 2 person job. What I found is easiest is finding the right temp, let it run, get your little guy & use spray nozzle to wet him, (no need to save the water just let it run freely down the drain or the product & dirt will recollect, its more of a doggie shower then bath )just leave the water running so you dont have to readjust the temp again, wash his entire body, rinse thoroughly, then condition & rinse thoroughly, use a thin wash cloth to wipe his face, corner of the eyes & in his ears, rinse the rag each time & sqeeze water out-try not to get water in the ears, I hold my girls ears down with one hand while rinsing the top of her head, drop the nozzel & then stroking the water back away from her eyes - you gotta be quick ,towel dry. A nice warm towel from the dryer would be nice. You cant turn your back for a sec or he will be on the floor & could be injured or worse. I got a hair dryer stand & I have it set up on another part of the counter so once my girl is done I move her over there & brush her til she's dry, it lets me keep a hold of her w/o fighting the dryer & brush in each hand. I use a hand towel by the sink to sit her on, a bath towel to dry her with & another hand towel by the dryer to sit her on. Have everything you need ready & in place. Never think they wont jump if you run get the shampoo cause they will. Crank you the heat during these cold winter months, you might want to switch to a Tshirt & pj bottoms cause you are gonna get wet. Try to talk to him & be slow & easy the entire time, start the dryer on low and once he seems relaxed move up to med & so forth. Try to make it a nice relaxing/bonding time, but normally I think most dogs hate baths, when they hear the sound of water they run. I think the cranberry fields is a great product & after shampoo & conditioning I hear alot talk about cowboy magic for finishing. As your pup grows & his hair gets longer grooming will become so important, you will see posts about HELP MATTED HAIR, it will get so matted if not combed almost every day. I bought a boar hog hair brush from walmart in the human hair care section for about $3, my dog loves it. I recommend getting one, it doesnt hurt the skin & it does pretty good brushing the hair.
Since you seem new to owning a puppy/dog...I suggest For oral care http://www.petzlife.com I think http://www.beyondspoiled.com a YT member may also carry that along w/cranberry fields shampoo & conditioners.

Keep up to date on vacs & worming-very important
I use Royal Canine Yorkshire Terrier food
& feed a little yogurt daily (I use store brand strawberry, I share a small one w/my pooch )

If yours is a young pup you might want to start with a baby shampoo like Johnsons no more tears or a puppy shampoo. I found a puppy shampoo at petsmart
