My furkids Donating Member | question here! I just bought a de-matting comb today...do I de-matt BEFORE I wash or after...do you de-matt on a wet or dry coat? do you think if I use cowboy magic that would help with the pulling? This is my first time using one of these..So any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!

| Yes cowboy magic will definitely help. I would dematt with the cowboy magic before wetting the hair with anything else. some say wet, some say dry. check out this article. http://dogs.about.com/od/dogcarebasi...gles_matts.htm |

| I start at the bottom and work my way up and hold the hair between my fingers so if I pull they don't freak out...I would use a spray bottle with conditioner in it before I start, it doesn't break the hair off as bad...

You start at the bottom of the matt...right? I didn't have as much good luck with the CM as most members here...I think because she HATES being brushed So...I am going to use the CM BEFORE I comb the matts out...Hopefully this will make it a little easier on Lillie. I am going to have hubby hold her while I comb the matts out.

| do you have a leave in conditioner for you....I have some leave in conditioner that I rub down them before I start to comb them before I wet them, if you will find the mat and hold it in your hand and work from the bottom up it will not pull their hair because your are holding it tight so they can't feel it as much...hold it tight in you fingers and brush or you can try to get the tangle out with you hands...
