| Heeelp! I need some advice... my 3month old baby Mylo hates getting brushed. Everytime I start he begins whining and biting me. I know I'm not hurting him because I always try to be extra careful. I also try to calm him by talking to him, and I also give him a small treat after I'm done. Will that help? I really hope I can get him maybe not to enjoy being brushed but at least to get him to stop biting me. Any advice from you all will be great

| Chewy didn't like to get brushed at first. It got to the point where he would bare his teeth and bite me. I knew enough to never stop brushing when he threw a fit... I would even continue to brush him if he was done to show him that throwing a fit will not get him his way. (He is matt free so I knew I wasn't hurting him) I have heard that if they are trying to bite you can lay them on their side and hold them gently there to show them you are the boss... or you can grab them gently by the back of the neck like a mother dog would do... Both these things show them you are the leader. You need to never lose control and never get mad... they can tell when you are out of control. When I layed Chewy on his side the first time he fought me for 15 min! Don't let them up until they calm down and go limp... THen they are submitting to you. (DON't be mad if you do this! YOur being Calm is key in all this! When Chewy would bite me I would not pull back... I would even keep my hand in his mouth and stare at him like go ahead and bite... You will be brushed anyway. He is turning 6 moths this week. (WE got him at 3 months) He sits nicely on my lap while I brush him... he doesn't like his face being brushed and he tries to hide his face in my belly... but I always go through the whole process... he is still matt free, brushing is no big deal... Talk calmly to them but be firm and in control they learn that you mean business and you are the boss....Hope this hellps!

| you might want to try a cat brush for a while. it is more like a massage to them. then use the other brush or comb. You might think about using the CC gold series brush too. It doesn't hurt them at all. there is a lot of threads on that brush on here if you do a search. mine love being brushed. I can't just brush one because when I start they all are on my lap wanting it.

| He is still very young. Just be patient and persistent and don't stop brusing him when he starts this behavior. If you do, he will think that he can bite and pitch and fit everytime and you'll stop. Just keep brushing him at least once daily and he will definately eventually get used to it. |

| I agree with eveyone persistance is the key. The treats afterward is a good thing too, keep that up. It lets him know that when he gets brushed he gets a treat, so he will begin to like the brushing because the treat is coming. You could also try a chew treat of some sort during the brushing. Hold it so he can't get it and run away and brush him while he's laying with you eating it. You could even take it a step further and take it away at the end of the brushing so he only gets it while getting brushed, but if you's is like mine he'll be running around for hours afterwards trying to find where you put the treat. After a while he will probably enjoy being brushed anyway with or without treats, he just needs to learn to calm down a bit first.

| I made a grooming arm for mine and it made a world of difference. Also, try giving them a good work out before brushing so they are tired. |
