| Keeping Bands in Yorkies Hair I have a 12 week old Yorkie "Elle" and I CAN NOT keep bands in her hair. I have tried and tried and she rakes her head on the ground and takes them right out! I think I need to be "training" her to wear them. Any suggestions? |

Peeka Boo I See You! Donating Member | I went to walmart and bought Peeka and Boo these bows that have like an aligator clip on the back where you squeeze one side and the other side opens i have foun it easier to use these to start them out with they are now 14 weeks on thursday and they will leave them in. we tried the elastics and i don't think thier hair is long enough to put them in. but mabey try the clips to get used to having something there.

| Thanks for all the tips!! I went to a doggie boutique in OKC and they told me to get the barrettes and so I did, but they also slip out. They stay in much better than bands though. Poor Elle, I laugh at her when she had bands in tho. Her hair is so short on top she just had this little patch of hair that sticks up! Its so cute. I think she feels embarassed, thats why she rubs them off. And, it might be pulling...but I will try all these things. Something had to help!! |

| Go buy the little plastic baby barrettes. The kind that are all plastic and snap shut tight. Yiu know.... they used to be the ONLY kind of barrettes for babies years back Make sure you buy the name brand kind and not the off brand. the off brand have like 3 hard teeth and they slide out . the name brand have like 6 teeth top and bottom and grip tight. I trained both my yorkies on these and they stay in best. You can now buy them in shapes like bears or bows ...but if you buy the straight across kind you can actually hot glue little bows on them to dress them up

| Maybe her hair is just not long enough yet. Is is normal for their hair to be pretty short when they are young? I know it grows when they get older but...Elle is my first yorkie and I am like freaking out about the hair situation. My boyfried get sick of hearing me talk about it I think! But....Oh well. Also, maybe its just super fine. I don't know. I will post a picture soon and maybe you guys and tell me what you think! Last edited by Pinkee; 08-16-2006 at 05:45 AM. |
