Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Blow drying face? I know. Silly question. But wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks. Jillie HATES when blower dryer hits her face. She tolerates it on body, but squirms like a freshly landed trout when I try to dry her face. She's 8 years old, so we get by, but it's always a pain when I'm in a hurry and she won't cooperate. Like today when she has a therapy dog appointment at hospital and she's completely dried and brushed except for face and chest. I've tried elevating her but i'm afraid she'll squirm off the washing machine.

| I use one hand to hold the hair and create a shield for the face. Hand flat with the hair falling over my hand or coming through my fingers. Point the dryer toward the tail and avoid blowing directly into the face. Do not hold the dryer too close to the dog, and do not hold it in one place. Medium setting for heat. Before you start blow drying, use a towel to wick up as much moisture as possible. Don't rub, just scrunch the mustache, beard, and topnot in the towel fold. Use your hand to run it through the hair and create the barrier as you dry. Sometimes I use a brush in place of my hand. For the chest, I hold one front leg up and move the dryer back and forth. I dry my boys on the counter using my body to block them. Sometimes we work sitting on the kitchen floor.

| Whenever I dry their faces, I sit on the floor with the blow dryer at the lowest setting (medium on my dryer is quite hot), on the floor but propped up (with a sock or tissue box, whatever I find laying around) so that it's angled and blowing 30 to 45 degrees upwards. Then, I have both hands to hold the face with one hand and use the other hand to 'comb' through the hair either with a comb or my fingers.
