Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Question about Coconut oil I've seen multiple people raving about the virtues of coconut oil as a grooming aid. Can someone please explain to me just how to use it? Do you use it before the bath or after? If you use it before, how long do you keep it in before shampooing? Do you use it between baths when you are brushing? Anything else I am missing? Thanks.

| I will melt some down and mix it on his skin before I use the conditioner. Then once I rub it in good, I will add the conditioner and massage it all in and rinse! His skin always comes out baby soft and silky and he smells so good!!

| Like Deanna, I also use it as a conditioner, but a "leave in" after she gets out of the bath. I rub it on her known hot spots (rib cage and armpits). It's also great before bath on really matted areas. Rub a bit directly onto the mat and use your hands to break it apart. It will slip out fairly easily. I've found it works better than any detangling spray I've used. Also you don't really need to melt it down unless you keep it in the fridge. It's a saturated oil, so if its on the counter during summer time (unless your house is freezing cold) it will already be a semi liquid/semi solid. We don't have ac here so in the summer it's basically liquid like regular oil.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Thank you. I can't wait to try the coconut oil out. Especially on my cotton coated Scarlett.

| If you put it on a dry coat, it may appear oily for a day or so, but then it soaks in and the coat will look normal. You can also apply it more heavily and leave on for an hour or two before the bath. To apply lightly, I rub a few drops on my hands then onto the coat.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I used some. Galen's still has his puppy coat with his adult coat growing in. It is a hot mess lol. It just mats a lot. I used it on his coat. I used a little too much but i was trying to take a few mats out. His coat looked a little oily but I have to say it was so nice to brush him and not deal with mats. This time I am going to use a little less lol.

| You can use organic coconut oil from the grocery stores. It's white until melted into liquid, but can liquify a bit in a warm room or just setting the jar in a bowl filled with warm water. I actually used it on my own hair as a conditioner when I bleached my hair >.< Made my hair really soft again.

| I use coconut oil on everything and anything I can. Leila not only has a cotton coat but her hair is also very wavy! The coconut oil works miracles! She is no longer puffy when I brush her out. I normally use only a little because it can go along way!

| I saw coconut oil in the GNC store and also at Trader Joe's. You can also get it on Amazon. |
