| What do you use for...... Matting legs? The worst matting legs you ever seen, lol Since i'm growing him out I need to find something before it gets longer. I have Kong spray but I need something better for the legs. So whats something that you use for really matted hair that works? |

| I e never had a bad matting problem but I use a wooden pinned brush. I hear some people cut into mats to help clear them up. Maybe some one with more grooming experience will add to this. Also, I use Yorkie sheen, smells great, and PEK. Good luck!

| Corn Starch... a pinch or 2-3, applied to and worked into the mat then gently work the tangles out.

| I've just been cutting Izzy's matts out and hoping that once her puppy fur grows out, her coat will be more silky, but I'm not holding my breath. Jack never matts (he did a bit when he was a puppy and I just cut them out also). I don't think I have the patience to sit there with a box of corn starch and try to work them out of Izzy's fur nor do I think she has the patience to sit there that long.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | The startch works well. After you eat the mats out you have to keep up with brushing. The more you brush the better off you are. I had a long haired Norwegian Forest Cat, Moon Shadow. I would brush him everyday. I would do parts of him. Morning his body, evening his legs, night his tail. I did it ever since he was a kitten. He would love it. I would tell him brushies and he would jump on the bathroom vanity so I can brush him. He ever had a mat. I know it is a lot but it was also bonding time with him.

| We use Pet Silk Silk Seum to detangle. It's really a hair dressing, but it works so well for us when my boys have made a mess of themselves kicking around in long, dry grass. I also like that it helps prevent more tangling. Another product that some people like is Cowboy Magic.

| Elvis and Princess both have cottony legs-we live in a rainforrest and the himidity results in after grooming with a wide tooth comb their legs still instantly fluff and if not short the hair curls! Elvis my yorkie has a combo coat his face and body super silky like straight and his white legs and underbelly cotton coarse fluff-so frusterating it almost always looks like I stop half way through grooming! Corn starch is a mircle for removing mattes. Biosilk serum cures it but expensive. we use wen and the almond or pumpkin as a leave in work great too. honestly with time issues despite me loving long fluffed leg hair we've opted for a shorter cut on legs. I'll be utalizing the answers of others too... I just coated the kegs in corn starch and brushed out-amazing how easy the corn star h makes it!!

Try using a comb on Joel's legs and combing small sections at a time. Give him something to chew on while you work. That is how I got Teddy to stop biting me, lol.

| We use Quicker Slicker on Hoover (who is a Morkie, not a Yorkie). A friend of mine who has a Maltese told us about it. Works great! |

| I was able to pick up Cowboy Magic this week. All I can say is WOW!! Joey mats up, like you wouldn't believe. It's concentrated detangler and shine. I used it straight from the tube. 4 days later still no matting! Combing his legs now takes about 5 seconds a day!!(each leg that is) But I really can't tell you what type of hair he has I am really impressed with this stuff!!
