| Attempting to be a groomer...Part 2 So I ordered these Oster clippers and they came today. I sit Gizmo down, read the instructions, and get everything ready....And the clippers don't work. Needless to say, they are going back to the ebay seller and I'm going to get a new pair. That's what I get for trying to be cheap and getting a lower priced pair. And so the search continues.

| Think I may go there as well and take a gander. Lol, I was so annoyed when they stopped working. They didn't even cut Gizmo's hair!

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Hmmm after a second look... They got very mixed reviews. Barely scored a three. Most like the cost but were very unhappy with the loudness of them and that they got very hot. This is definitely a concern. The ones that my sister gas, heat up fairly fast as well and the metal blades can burn the dogs. That is why she has two, when one is cooling off she switches to the others.

The smaller the number the shorter the cut. But if your Gizmo already has short hair is will not take as mush off as you would expect.

| I used even the shortest blade and it failed. I just don't think it was a quality trimmer. Like I said, that's what I get for being cheap!

Donating YT 500 Club Member | The ones I purchased through Petsmart work great and they are only 20 more?... When I was shopping for clippers I looked at the ones that said "Heavy Duty or for Heavier Coats" on the package. If I remember right, they tend to have more strokes per minute. The ones I have also have a pivot motor which in return gives them a little more power. Which in return will give you a smoother quicker cut. That's what worked for us! I think for Taycie, they work wonderful. Now, If I was cutting a dog with a super heavy double coat, I am not sure these would do the trick but they do have enough power to give Taycie a good cut. I was looking at the ones you have and the package says Light Duty.. When I was researching clippers, They may not really be bad but just not enough power.. That might be worth looking into when you buy another pair, if you do.

Amazon.com: Oster Kool Lube III Spray Coolant,... I have seen this at Petsmart too. I actually buy this at Sally's beauty Supply and use it for my clippers at the salon when it crazy busy with haircuts and I don't have time to wait for my clippers to cool. I have also used this on my pet clippers too. Works great and cools off the blades. I will oil alot too.. that helps as well!

Missing Yoshi Everyday! Donating Member | i have been using these clippers for years not...after realizing how much i was spending at the groomer with 6 dogs i decided it was time to invest in some good clippers and learn to do it myself... Amazon.com: Oster A5 Turbo 2-Speed Professional... the price has gone down since i bought them years ago...i believe i paid $210 for them....and they are still running now...just when the blades go dull i replace them...

| I ended up clipping Gizmo last night after caving and getting a good set from Petco. I'll take some pictures when I get home. But he was not happy with the process! But I think he looks cute, it was the cut that I wanted and was still cheaper than me going to get him groomed. Next investment is going to be a dremmel for his tootsies!

Cant wait to see pics of him !! You'll make you cost of the clippers back in no time at all with the money you will save on grooming charges. I just got done grooming Miah and using my sisters dremmal on her nails. I clip them with the nail clippers and she hates it... But she did really well, considering this was the first time I've ever used clippers or the dremmal on her. Lets just say I am still learning .... .
