| What am I doing wrong or what did I do wrong? Help! My yorkshire terrier is now 9 months old and his ears have dropped. His ears were upright from 8 weeks to 7 months. But, the last two months they have become droopy. He seems to lift them occasionally. But, by default they are floppy. I have shaved most of the hair off of them and trimmed around the rim of the ear. But, I don't know if I am doing it right or what happened that his ears are like this. Both of his parents have upright ears and so does his birth sister. I am confused. I have attached a picture of how the hair looks on his ears presently. I hope I didn't do something wrong to make them irreversibly floppy. Thanks for any advice you can offer. |

| I've heard this can happen when they're teething... don't know if it applies to him... or if he's having a growth spurt... they'll stand up again in no time.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Keep the top 1/3 of the ear shaved down. Use a Wahl Peanut or other small grooming trimmer and it's easy to keep the ears trimmed. It's possible the drooping ears are a result of too much hair and teething. Hopefully with a trim, and his adult teeth completely in, the ears will stand just fine.

| Like the others said, you can trim 'em a bit. You can also tape them up for the day and they should stand right back up the next day. Here is a little video in this post. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/3757090-post20.html I didn't do the tape on the inside of the ear when I left it on for the day because I tried to the first time and he didn't like it, it probably tickled his ear a little. I really only had it taped for about 9 hours and it did the trick! it didn't bother him either.

I think he will I used painters tape but masking tape should do good too. I was just amazed he didn't take it off...well he did the first time when I had the tape on the inside so I redid them hehe. He only had one floppy too. The breeder had taped them both before so maybe he was used to them.
