| Professional Grooming Questions I have never taken a dog to a professional groomer, but I want to take Mylee to one. I am having anxiety over it. Tell me about these grooming tables. I am worried about that loop they slip over their neck/head. How does it work, is it dangerous if dogs have a tendency of CT? I am worried that Mylee may fight it.

| I would like to see the responses to this too Shelly. I haven't taken Jada and Bogie to be done professionally in a long time. I found a groomer where I get their food and she is supposed to be really good. I am thinking about taking them in just to have their legs and face shaped up. I am really bad on those areas. I am scared to death of that grooming noose, it looks dangerous to me.

| Talk to the groomer, and ask him/her how they put the noose on, and what your concerns are. They should be putting the noose under the armpit and around the opposite shoulder (on small breeds), kind of like how you wear a shoulder bag. Also, when you find a. groomer, ask to be there to watch, or if you think it will cause your baby anxiety, ask to watch the groomer grooming another dog. If they won't let you, then I would look for another.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I took Ruby twice to a groomer and she acted so frightened after the 2nd time, I decided from that point forward I would groom her. I was growing out her coat anyway, so the groomer was only for a bath, sanitary and paw trim. I don't think the groomer did anything necessarily wrong with Ruby, just that Ruby wasn't used to being left with anyone, and especially in a strange place. I mentioned my concern about her being left in a cage with a cage dryer, and/or being left on a table with a noose. The groomer trying to alleviate my anxiety told me she would most likely just blow dry Ruby sitting in her lap. She was very nice with that offer, but I don't know if she actually did dry Ruby that way. The noose if used properly shouldn't hurt a yorkie trachea. The problem is, you don't really know what is done when you're not there to observe. And, since there was no way for me to resolve that problem, I decided to learn how to groom my dogs. If I were to utilize a professional groomer again, I would look for a mobile groomer.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | As MaryKay mentioned above, maybe you could find a groomer that will let you stay and watch. I tried that but had no luck with the few groomers in my area. I could understand though why a groomer wouldn't really appreciate a customer that wants to watch. Not because the groomer does anything wrong, but simply because most people don't like to be watched over their shoulder while working. Hopefully you'll find one that will let you stay. After you have her groomed, then it should be fairly easy to follow the groomers lines and keep her trimmed in the cut you like.

| I go for the mobile groomers! No noose at all, no other dogs, no cages, done in my driveway within 45 minutes-1 hour! LOVE it!

| I have always had trouble finding a groomer that would allow me to stay and they always want me to drop off in the morning and not pick up till the end of the day and leave the babies in a cage all day. I have finally found a mobile groomer that will come to me and has a great reputation and really good reviews. We haven't used him yet but will be when we are ready. I think if you can find it, it's the way to go.

| Rosie and Mikki goes to a groomer that does her grooming at her home. She has never hesitated to let me be there if I want to be. My girls are never left unsupervised. And she loves my girls. I picked them up the other day and she is holding Rosie and her DH is holding Mikki. Another time Rosie was laying in her chair. I know they get extra special treatment there. Any good caring groomer would be willing to answer your questions and would not mind if you are there. If they don't want you to be there, my question is then what is it that you don't want me to see?

| I always request that they do not use the noose. I would not leave him somewhere they insisted on using it. Levi's groomer has always allowed me to stay and watch. He's been there so many times that I feel comfortable enough to stay out in the waiting area now...he behaves better when I'm not watching him.

| I have always taken mine to a groomer. The loop goes under the armpit not around the neck. I don't stay as Buster does better when I'm not there. He has really bad separation anxiety and would probably not get groomed if I stayed. The groomer has a nice shop in her house and she doesn't take big dogs. Maggie doesn't like big dogs and I wouldn't leave her anywhere she had to stay with a big dog in the next crate. They are at the groomer's for about three hours, the first few times that happened I was freaked out, worried that something might have happened. The groomer shouldn't mind answering any questions you have. The first time Buster got groomed after his surgery, she sent me a text message to let me know how he was doing. She knew I was nervous about leaving him after his surgery. I appreciate her a lot!
