Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Do you shave their bellies? My wife likes it when Jillie's belly is shaved. I admit it's easier to keep her clean and looking good, but I think she needs a little bit of hair on her underside for our cold winters. We do use coats, but the ones I like don't cover the belly well.

| I haven't shaved Princess's since I started the grooming, but the groomer did & I liked it better. Honestly (& weirdly), I get worried about cutting her lil nipples so I'm afraid to do it. Her hair is so fine I don't think it would make a difference as far as warmth, not sure how Miss Jillie is. I think it's just a personal preference, personally.

| I trim a little hair, maybe 1 inch above the key location for cleanliness. Otherwise, I let it all grow.

Well last week, Tracy my groomer wasn't there and another girl did my Willow and almost did clip off one of her nipples. I was so upset. Today when I took all 3 girl's in for their weekly baths, Tracy didn't charge me at all for them. She just kept saying how sorry she was. I have no idea what the other girl thought she was doing and she has been there as long as I have been going there. So I told them I would do Willow's belly from now on. Willow's little nipples do hang alittle bit since she was breeder girl. I felt so bad for her.

| Kaji's been completely shaved once by a groomer (against my wishes) and it wasn't a good experience. When I say shaved, it looked like someone took a razor and went to town on his underside. Since then, the lowest I've trimed his tummy and the rest of his body is down to a quarter of an inch. Yup, I keep him real short! During the winter I keep his body a little longer, but I keep the tummy the same.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Thanks, everybody. I see what to be concerned with and what the trend is. I think I'm going to keep it modestly long, no shaving.

| I forgot to add: Kaji got a rash from the shave down he got from the groomer. The hair irritated his belly, he scratched and irritated it more. So he scratched more, and the vicious cycle continued.

Mike...I usually trim the belly just to about where the belly button would be. as for the entire underside, I think you would be happy with keeping it longer. Maybe at least a 1/2 inch or however long the body hair is. Since Jillie is a girl....there is no real need to keep the entire belly short.

| I need some pointers on how to keep the belly clean. Smokey is getting stinky. I trimmed his belly, but not shaved it, and I think I messed up the hair that I should have cut into a pee string. Help! I've been using baby wipes after each time I let him out. Anything else I should be doing? I've never had a boy before.
