| - You should bathe him 1 a week, but if he's still with his puppycoat then about every 2 weeks. - I use Pet Silk Moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, I like it the best and I've tried very much. - Buy a comb for him and brush & comb him after bath, dont brush a dirty coat !! it ruins the coat if you brush when its dirty, also buy a pinbrush and a brush (made for humans) with real pighairs. When you bathe him, use shampoo 2 and conditioner 1, dont wash out all the conditioner I leave it in and squeeze the coat so the most wet goes out, I leave it in cause it helps with matting. Then you blowdry him completily dry, brush him with the pighair brush while you blowdry him, it would be good to have another person holding him while you blowdry cause they often try to run away or dont wanna stand still. Then you use a Pinbrush next, with it you get all those small tangles out, when you are done brushing the dog with that brush then you take the comb (I prefer steel comb) and comb him all over so he will have abseloutely no matts ! If some matts are hard you can cut them out but try first as you can to comb it out, I have a comb with rotating pins that works magic with the matts ! its a MUST to have a comb it rotating pins. Then you brush him about every other day I hope I helped something.

| Water makes matts worse... I comb them out before a bath. Unless its a topknot With 3 rubber bands In it and it's a matted mess!! Lol

| With Fido, his hair is much easy to brush and comb after bath, I just ruin the hair if I brush it dirty. I leave alot of conditioner in the hair after bath so combing the matts out will become very easy ! It's OK to leave conditioner in the coat, just don't leave any shampoo in the coat. I think its just different with dogs if they become matted after bath or not if its better to brush and comb before or after.

| There is so much conflicting advice about brushing. The best advice I received, and try to follow religiously is: Never brush a dry coat, buy a detangling spray Never spray the detangler straight onto the coat, spray the brush and that will spread the detangling throughout the coat. Brush at least once a day, it helps avoid huge matts. Best equipment I've ever bought for my baby's hair is the insinis brush, a madan brush (black because he is soft coated) and a madan miustache comb. Forgot to add my favorite shampoo is yorkie splash and shine. I use yorkie sheen for detangling. I bathe him every Sunday. I agree that water makes matts worse. I know I probably should only brush him after a bath, butthat would be way to painful. I brush him out before, and brush his hair as I'm drying him.

| I brush mine and get the mats out before bathing, I have used a spray on conditioner first if mats are bad. Also cornstarch is good to get mats out when their hair is still dry before the bath. I use a Oatmeal Shampoo, recommended by my vet, he had a Yorkie. There are also grooming videos on YT if you search for them.
